Is this bezel genuine?
I bought this bezel from a friend who told me that it was an orginal Rolex Bezel. Sorry, the picture is as close as I could get with my camera. If the picture is inconclusive what are the signs that a bezel is genuine?
As a new member, I have learned so much in just a few days of reading the forum. Thanks, http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...Y/DSCN1382.jpg |

Appears to be aftermarket, as the diamonds are too small for Rolex original. Though Rolex did sell them(and Diamond dials) over the counter in the 80's and 90's that has long since become history.

Hello Marion
Well for starters, Rolex never put (or puts) diamond bezel on TT watches. Diamond bezels are ONLY reserved for solid gold and platinum watches. Not saying a genuine Rolex bezel has been added though. In saying that Rolex diamond bezels come in two configerations: 44 diamonds (older style) 52 diamonds (newer style) Since the one pictured has 44 diamonds (yes, I counted them!) and the pave setting has 4 "claws", it may be genuine. I know that the newer ones have the Rolex crown stamped on the underside of the bezel, not too sure about the older ones. Hope this helps a little. John. |

John,
Thank you for the insight. that was exactly the kind of information I was hoping would come out. I bought my watch from an AD in the mid 1980s so I know how it was born. I am the one that put the bezel on so I know it is not original to my watch. I am going to have it removed and now I have something to examine when I do. Thanks again, Marion. |
