Question about the Royal Oak Dual Time Movement

I recently purchased new a Royal Oak Dual Time, absolutely love the watch. From what I have read, the movent is not an "In House" movement, but rather based on a JLC movement.

I am a bit of a novice when it come to what is going on inside my watches, so what exactly does that mean? Did JLC make the movement, ship it to AP for them to install it? Was it just borrowed technology, but AP makes it all in house?
Was there any innovation in terms if the movement on APs part?
Basically, I am asking what is the story with this movement.

Really any help or information would be greatly appretiated.

I believe the movement is Cal.2329/2846 , but honestly, I have no idea what that is.

If i remember correctly, AP used to own a portion of JLC. Also last time, making inhouse movement isnt that popular, AP, PP and VC used to buy movement from JLC, zenith etc and they will make some modications on it.

I think this APRO dual time movement is licensed by JLC and AP made some modifications to it. VC overseas dual time is probably using the same movement licensed by JLC. But you can see that both VC and AP made some slight modifications to it.

So what exactly are you saying?

Are you saying that AP made the entire movement, from beginning to end in their factory, but based their design off a JLC movement, but added some extra features?

No-- the opposite. JLC made the movement like they do for VC and then AP and VC finish them. This is similar to Lemania making movements for VC and PP and then they are finished and decorated by both.

Got it, thank you very much for the clarification.

It's quite a lineage in one watch, JLC and AP
