Genuine or fake deployment...your opinion please!

My cousin has a spare deployment buckle he hasn't used in about 3 years and is willing to sell it to me for about $100 which i think is a great price.

He bought the buckle on or around 2006. In my opinion it looks somewhat different than the more recent ones I've personally seen. Hopefully this is due to the fact that its an older style deployment. Anyways, we are both very curious in finding out if it is a replica or not.

Main differences I see with newer style buckles is:

"panerai" security engraving on the inside of the buckle
different font on the words stainless steel and swiss made
no center screw to remove the strap from the buckle

Could you guys please let me know what you think? Did he get scammed 6 years ago?
