Permanent links

So my 16622 Yacht-Master looks to sit correct on the top of my wrist, but I noticed when I look at the bottom of my wrist, the clasp seems to fall to the right and noticably shorter on the 12 o'clock side.

My 6 oclock side has 4 permanent links and like a 1/2 removable link, and my 12 oclock as 4 permanent links + 2 removeable ones.

It seems I have to shorten the 6 oclock side even more, but the links are permanent. I've been told I can bring it to a watch maker and they can remove the permanent links.

Anyone else notice this with their bracelet. I have a fairly small wrist which is about 6.5 inches.

feedback appreciated

My1680 is the same. Too many non removable links IMHO.
Solution is a NATO for me :)

There are jewellers who specialize in this. Someone else will chime in to name them

Yes permanent links can be removed, just make sure you have a qualified watchmaker do it.

Are you referring to the half link on the clasp? I had a similar issue on my 6.5" wrist. I just upgraded the clasp and no more problem.

When looking at the clasp, take a peek underneath it to the hinged, curved pieces. If they rest in the middle of your wrist then the bracelet is correctly positioned. It is common for the clasp to rest a few mm left or right - but the curved piece underneath is what keeps the watch centered topside.

The new 116710 and 116520 share the same clasp. It's hard to source and rather expensive but works so nicely on the YM and other Rolexes.

It's much cheaper and easier to just remove one of the permanent links on the short side of the bracelet. The older style bracelets simply have too many permanent links for those of us with a small wrist. It's too bad, because it would have been very simple for Rolex to include a smaller fraction of permanent links.

To the OP: a quick google search of "Rolex permanent link removal" will produce a number of threads showing exactly how to remove the links.

I believe that the Rolex Service Center will remove a permanent link. I would call NY and ask them. I see that you are in Connecticut so it might be a doable trip for you and you will have the satisfaction of having it done right.

As far as the clasp positioning, if the head of the watch sits correctly on the top of your wrist and the watch is comfortable, I would leave it. I have a small wrist and the clasp is not centered but the head of the watch (16610) is.

you can remove them quite easily, but you ruin the link, its a case of sacraficing the link, it cannot be used again in most cases.
