How much gold is in a 1966 Presidential?

I got a 1966 Presidential Rolex at an estate sale. The watch is not very attractive to me but I got a really good deal. Anyone know if there is more value in this watch as gold content than as a sellable watch for someone to wear?

thanks in advance.

Agree that pictures help. But it would be unlikely the grams of gold in it would have more value unless the movement is trashed.

There have been threads on this before. The gold Presidential bracelet can be weighed, depending on # links I will guestimate it at 80 grams wt, being 18K gold that is 75% by weight, or 60 grams pure Gold. Add 6 grams for the crown and dial markers, again 75% by wt to account for 18K, and that's 4 more grams. We're now at 2 Ounces Troy Gold and have yet to account for the gold watch case. Add another 20 grams pure gold for that and call it a day at 84 grams or roughly 2.7 Troy Ounces, again this is very very non-scientific. At spot gold today of roughly $1600. per Troy Ounce, we have a ROUGH ESTIMATE of $4,320 melt value.

I can guarantee you the watch is worth way more than that no matter what the condition.

Remember Gold Prices are in Troy Ounces = 31.1 grams.
