It's certainly real and a very lovely piece indeed. (Don't let anyone tell you otherwise)

The movement dates it to about 1920/1930 as far as I know.
The reference to the 7 World's Records is to do with early watch testing and accreditation by the Swiss watch manufacturing companies.
Lower down on the case you'll see the Swiss cross
9K which means 9kt Gold
and the serial number.

Nice piece. Look after it - it's worth a lot of money.

Would agree its genuine but its not worth a fortune the most worth is the gold metal and the name on the dial. Now if it was not for the Rolex name on dial it would be worth just mainly the precious metal content.Afraid today pocket watches in general compared to wrist watches don't have the same value even if they are Rolex.

It is a puzzle that rare pocket watches don't fetch the value of equally rare wrist watches.

An open market is a fickle thing.

Especially when it's something that has no inherent value...

To that end, it is really quite special that Rolex wrist watches hold their value as much as they do, given that millions of new ones come out of the factory every year.

Of course we see the reason on TRF, but most things in life depreciated much faster for the same reason - new ones are more desirable than old ones.

There must be a price demand curve over time that some promising math major could work out. I notice that many models dip in value compared to MSRP for a period, then hold at some residual value, and then move upward as a function of inflation + popular demand appreciation.

There are certain outliers like the PLN Daytona or the original grand complications that have skyrocketed. But for the most part, each model seems to follow the curve by varying degrees.
