Newbie need advice

I just recently joined the forum. I am very new to the world of Rolex and my head is spinning. I went to the Rolex store yesterday and fell in love with a TT yellow gold SS mid size datejust with jubilee bracelet with MOP dial and diamond marker and a full or 24 diamond bezel. The full diamond bezel one was 20+k, and the 24 diamond bezel was 16+k.
I was hoping to find the watch I want preowned, but that seems even harder to do. My questions for you all are the following:
1. Are Rolex factory bezels worth it? What is the resale value of them?
2. Is the MOP dial worth the extra $$$$?
3. If I come across the EXACT watch I am looking for preowned, will it be 20% less than a new one or 50% less?
4. If I come across a preowned midsz TT DJ with MOP dial and diamond markers, will I be able to find a factory bezel at a later date?
5. Can most of you tell the difference between a factory bezel or a custom bezel?

1. It's up to you. Don't see a lot of Rolex diamond bezels for sale.
2. It's up to you.
3. Price depends on a lot of factors.
4. I doubt it.
5. Custom = after market.

Sometimes, finding the exact configuration you want, used, can take time and hard work. Perhaps try asking some of the trusted sellers here if they can help you?

Don't go with any aftermarket parts as you will kill the resale of the watch, and Rolex may refuse to service it

So here is another question, I found the watch I want from from a non-AD who claims the watch is brand new G-series but does not have a warranty card. The claims the dealer lost watches in transit, and was paid by insurance company. They were subsequently recovered and were purchased from insurance company. He says the watch is new but can't sell it as new bc it doesnt have the warranty card. The watch is almost 30% off list. A friend of my mother's claims she has an AD that gives her 20% of list price.
Who you buy from the AD with 20% off or from the non-AD at 30% off with no warranty card? The non-AD claims the watch is brand new.
I am very confused!

I wouldn't spend that kind of money for a watch with a "sketchy" past. For all you know it could be stolen! Not only that, but more people use the warranty than you might think. (Search for the topic on here)

Hi nycdiva, welcome to TRF! I can totally understand the excitement especially after going into the store and seeing them all there...definitely hard to resist. But, now that you are here and before jumping the gun be sure to check out the forums for information on any of the pieces you are interested in. There are also a lot of reputable sellers here on the forum who may very well have what you are looking for...at a great price so everyone wins. Really worth a look. Going into the purchase with the info you can gain here will be well worth it.

thanks for the replies. The watches I am looking at are relatively new so it is kind of hard to find one preowned. I have contacted the a seller from the forum and that what he has told me. I also contacted various watch dealers and this is what I came up with. The best deal I can get on the watch so far is 20% off list from an AD.
I was hoping to find the watch preowned so I could save even more money. I just dont know how long I will have to wait for one to come up preowned
The story from the non-AD sounds a little off, and I am not sure its worth the 10% to go that route.

I just dont want to jump the gun and buy the watch new and then subsequently find a preowned one in great condition that is 40% off list.

The chances of finding the exact DJ in the configuration you want are fairly slim, considering there are so many variations of that model. It's much easier to find, say, a preowned steel Sub, or a Milgauss...since they aren't offered in as many options.

Having said that, I wouldn't pay retail for what you're looking for. Peace of mind is worth a bundle...if it were me, I'd go with one of the trusted grey dealers here. You'll get EXACTLY what you want, pay LESS, and KNOW you're getting the real deal, with WARRANTY.

What the grey dealers can discount depends on several factors....the model, availability, etc...they can tell you more then I can, but still, you'd be saving on tax which is a large savings in and of itself.

I have been in talk with gray dealers and the best I can get is 20% off. The AD will give me 20% off and I can send it to my inlaws out of state to save on sales tax.
Since I can't find the watch I want preowned, I think I may have to downgrade the watch and get it new. It seems like it would easy to find a midsized TT DJ with a diamond dial used, and then just buy an aftermarket diamond bezel that I can switch out.
The only problem I have is that I was always taught not to mess with after market diamonds bc it ruins the value of the watch. But if I can switch the bezel with no problem I wont actually be ruining the watch with AM parts.
This is my first Rolex, and I just not sure if DJ 178383 is worth the 20k price tag. I just dont see it holding its value
