Is it safe to get your Rolex high?

Like 10,000 feet high? :) Apparently it is!

We drove up Mount Haleakala in (Maui) when we were in Hawaii recently on vacation. To a pretty amazing 10,000 feet altitude. We were standing on the side of the road, looking down, thousands of feet down, on CLOUDS! There were clouds rolling by us, we were quite literally in them, and above several layers of them.

My Sub C didn't seem to mind. :) It occurred to me to take a few "action shots" with the Sub. It was our first time in Hawaii, a very neat place. :) My wife thought my action shots were, well, do I need to tell you?

Driving down the mountain after the sun set, in the dark, was a little hairy though.

I live in Colorado at 5000ft. A one hour drive takes us up to 12500 ft on Trail Ridge Road. Nothing has suffered yet apart from my ability to walk, talk and say anything meaningful about the view!

Kauai? You mean Maui? Kawaikini is the highest point on Kauai at 5k. Haleakala is on Maui. I was just there last month! Looks like you did the sunset drive? Sunrise is just as spooky driving up. Very surreal up there.

I felt like I was on Mars.

You might be right! I get the islands mixed up, we went to most of them. I'll have to check.

You're right of course, it was Maui. :)

Yeah, we have more than our fair share of 14k's in Colorado.

The natives don't like visitors.

It's amazing that with such thin air the crystals don't pop out!

You know, I actually did wonder if the altitude could affect the seals and water/pressure tightness of my Sub. I guess not?

Yes, never take a Rolex on an airplane.
Especially not on the Concorde. Buy a new one when you arrive.

Good thing it was a Sub ...

I'd be concerned if you were wearing a GMT Coke, Pepsi, or Root Beer.

Yes, I too had my 8 year old son with me, so we rented a Mustang convertible that day. As an aside, a really fun car to drive. Was surprised to pop the hood and see a 305 HP 3.7 V6 in it. :)

You are referring to your wrist, right?

Great pics man. The Sub looks very comfortable high and low (underwater). I'll remind you that Sir Edmund Hillary had his Rolex at the top of Everest. He didn't take an 'action pic' though.

Pics remind me of when I was in Columbia/Equador in the Andes mountains....had a hard time walking more than 50 feet without getting winded.
