Older Rolex GMTs
Because I'm new to all of this I am still trying to figure out serial numbers and such. If I am going to go the way of the Datejust II and an older GMT I would like some from specific time periods. I would be looking for SS GMT models from either 1973 or 1998. Anyone know what model numbers these would be off the top of their heads so I know what to look for when it comes time to look at buying an older GMT?

A '73 GMT would be a 1675 (went to 16750 in '78)
A '98 GMT would be a 16700

Great. Thank you both. Any idea on the average price for these watches? I know it is condition dependant but what would the average be. Actually I will just search the for sale forum. Thanks again.

Don't have an answer for you on that, but I just happen to be wearing my Grandpa's 1675 GMT today. Good luck with your search!

Wow, very intersting website: GMTmasterhistory. I really like to look of a Pepsi GMT. I was considering a GMTIIc as my next watch, but now I think I may like an older model so I could switch out bezels to get a new look now and then. I'd love to see a ceramic pepsi, but I know most of you think it will never happen.
