New Member, Submariner Buyer Questions
Hello TRF, just wanted to introduce myself and say hello with my first post.
I'm looking to purchase a submariner for my first rolex. ![]() I have a rookie question about model and serial numbers. I'm trying to get as informed as possible before my purchase. Does the lower the letter serial number mean it's newer or older/more desireable? 116010 stands for the model number for the New Ceramic bezel? Does it also stand for an older non cermic bezel? Thanks for the help guys and love the site! Any pointers to informative threads would also be very appreicative. Thanks ![]() |

Welcome to TRF. Start thinking about what your username will become, after you buy that coveted Sub and start looking for another type

Welcome to TRF!
![]() For starters, you can find some good information on Rolex serial numbers here: http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=54362 The current sub models are 116610 (with date and black or green ceramic bezel and black or green dial) or the 114060 (no date, black ceramic bezel). The previous versions were the 16610 and 14060 respectively. Do a forum search or check the WRUW (what are you wearing) daily threads and you'll find plenty of pictures and descriptions. Good luck with finding the right one for you! ![]()

The new Ceramic bezel SS Sub's model number is 116610LN. The older non-ceramic stainless steel sub's model number would be 16610. Generally, the most recent serial number would be more than older serial numbers if you were to resell it. The current serial numbers would start with G for 2012 models. However, if you saw a V serial number for a brand new sub at a Authorized retailer, they would charge you the same. It would make a slight difference for the serial numbers if you were to resell it.

Use the advanced search function. You can select key words in specific sections of the site. The Rolex General section you are in is good.
