Size difference? >>>>
A fellow watch geek have these two Rolex Submariner. Both bought brand new from the same AD in Denmark. The 116613 Gold/Steel in august 2009 and the 116610 steel in august 2012.
He (and I) believes there is a tiny difference in the size of the markers. The 116613 Gold/Steel markers seem to be a tiny bit larger than the one at the 116610. Anyone else heard of, or noticed this? Thanks.

That does look like quite a difference in size J.

2 tone versus s/s dials maybe made different for a reason?

The markers seem to have a slightly different colour, as well... maybe it's just the pic, though, or the TT markers are glowing slightly.

Hmm. Looking at the dia vs the minute markers would indicate they're the same. Perhaps it is an optical illusion?

Yep, I know thanks, but different fonts on Rolex dials are somehow "ordinary".
I’ve never seen or heard about different size of the markers on the Submariner model with maxi dials.

I am not sure what you are looking for Jesper.
As Mike points out there are differences in the font, For instance the words 'Oyster Perpetual Date' seem to be different. The spacing between the words seems almost double spacing on the 2 tone model.. Maybe its just the camera angle, I don't don't know. If you have concerns about the authenticity of these models, maybe you should take the lids off and check out the movement. Rolex movements are fantastic to look at with a very high degree of workmanship. Its the only real way of verification these days. |

Like I wrote in my first post: Both watches were bought new from an Authorized Rolex dealer, and therefore obviously 100 % genuine. I know about the different fonts, but that’s not the point! The owner is very pleased with his two Submariners, and has absolutely no plans regarding "dial swap" etc. There’s nothing wrong with the 116613 – the owner (and I) are just curious. My question is quite simple: Did you know, or have you ever heard of, that the markers on Rolex Submariner (and maybe also GMT) YG dials are a tiny bit larger vs. WG dials? Well – I didn’t!!
