Vintage?

I have a gmt master 1675 but the band is not the orginal. It has a replacment 62510h band from 1983. Does this make it less of a vintage watch or does the band play a small role in the overall watch desireablity? How many actually have an all original vintage watch from the 60's and 70's? Also, what would be the correct bracelet and endlinks for a 299XXXX serial number second quarter of 1971 gmt master pepsi? Jubilee or oyster or both?

Also, would you all consider this as a daily wearer or should I pamper it? The lume on the hour markers seem to be chipping off due to age and I was concerned if the daily use would affect the dial. Can these watches take another 40 years of beating?

Here is a riveted bracelet, dated 1970, that could have come original on a 1675. Other options could include 7836 folded bracelets, etc. I will let other with a better know chime in as well...

I have a '68 1675. It came with a USA oval link jubilee when I got it. I always thought it was original to the watch.

I am wondering what the experts have to say, maybe the jubilee was an option for 1675s in the USA at that time. Most of them from that era I have seen so far come with oyster riveted bracelets.

Replacing the band has absolutely nothing to do with the watch being more or less vintage - you're talking about two different parts. You could put on a space-age carbon fiber band and the watch is still vintage...Besides, most of the original bands are hard to re-size and not that comfortable - most folks will wear it on a more modern bracelet and save the original in a drawer.

That sounds great. I wear mine with a jubilee as stated above but also have a spare vintage oyster 93150 "G" code with 501 endlinks that I would prefer but I wasn't sure if that would make it look "not right" or out of place.

The only thing out of place would be putting it on a yellow crocodile strap, but even then, if it floats your boat go for it!

The 93150 would be considered vintage but a "modern upgrade" from some 60s and 70s watches' bracelets, so no reason not to wear it on that. Plus a 93150 is easy to size and is comfortable, as compared to say a 9315. I personally don't like jubilee bracelets, and think a 9315* is more at home on your watch - so certainly don't think it would look out of place at all.

Yours looks very similar to mine. I like the way it looks with a jubilee.

Good advice

I personally like to have the band matching the watch, but it is very true that vintage bands are uncomfortable.

I do too - if you can get it sized right, it is fun wearing those lighter bands.

I personally like the 93150 and the tinny noise it makes helps it with the nastalgia of the watch. I just wasnt sure if it was going to look like a franken watch with the replacement bracelet, whether it would be the 62510h or the 93150. Now I feel more comfortable wearing it with either one.

thanks

Looks great!!! I'm definitely putting my oyster on my gmt. It's currently getting serviced so I'm going to have wait a couple of weeks. I"ve never had the oyster bracelet on it before.
Thanks for the picture.
