St. Thomas Virgin Islands

Hello Folks:

I joined the group a couple weeks ago as part of my consumer education and product research prior to making my first purchase.
Do you guys think that $5372.00 U.S. dollars is a good price for the new GMT Master IIc 116710? This was quoted to me by the manager at A.H. Riise........the authorized dealer in St. Thomas Virgin Islands. Or do you think that I can get a better price else where.

Thanks
I.V.

I'm from Singapore and I'll grab that in a heartbeat. I was quoted a whopping US$7586 from an AD in Singapore. A lady client of mine whom just bought a mid sized YM today was quoted the same price on the GMT II ceramic.

Great price! I actually just returned from the USVI on 11/3 after being down there for two straight weeks. AH Riise is a great store with friendly, professional staff.

If you purchase a watch down in the USVI, technically, you're supposed to declare the purchase and pay a % on the purchase price over a certain amount.

A friend who traveled with me buys a watch every time he goes down and circumvents the process by: 1) mailing the receipt to his home address from the local USPS office, 2) putting the box in his checked baggage, and 3) wearing the newly purchased watch right thru customs.

I was wearing my 2 month old TOG and the customs guy didn't even give me a second look.

You can get a Rolex serviced at any Rolex Service Center any where in the world, no matter where you bought it.

It's well known that the USVI (U.S. Virgin Islands) have the best deals for highend timepieces.
There's a place on St.John called Little Switzerland, they have very good prices.

I have been to the Caribbean many times on tours. I wonder if there are direct flights to St Thomas?

As Josh stated above, AH Riise is the only game in town for Rolex in St. Thomas. However, you'd never guess by their behavior. Very friendly and highly professional. I bought my GMT II there and they were superb to deal with. Speaking of deals, don't bother trying to go lower than the price they have in the display case. It's already discounted vs. the Mainland because it's duty free onto the island. If you don't want to pay what's asked then step aside please because the person behind you will.

I priced my TT YM MOP dial in st.Thomas. The total discount of my watch would have been about $514.00. that is counting my discount and the winder the AD gave me. To me it would not be a deal buying there. My AD will clean it anytime i go in to the store which isn't far (15 min). He will clean my personal Jewelery and adjust it if need be. It is worth my piece of mind to know that i am getting 2 yr warranty on top of Rolexes 2 yr.So that is 4 yrs. Buy at your local AD. Its worth your piece of mind. My list was $9975.00 . When you spend that kind of money, the service is well worth the extra. the day after i bought my watch I wanted to insure it. the co wanted a appraisal. i called the AD and he faxed it to me and i was able to insure it without the miss of a beat. Be Smart and good luck

American Airlines has at least two direct flights a day from Miami to St. Thomas - or at least they did when we flew over and connected thru Miami.

If you're going to go to St John, you may forget you were there to see watches. It is that stunning of an island... No crime, mostly US protected park.
