Houston We Have a BIG Problem!!
So i'm sure many of you remember last week I had purchased an AP Legacy and posted several pictures of it. Well, over the weekend I was only wearing it around the house and because of it's HUGE 48mm size, the ceramic octagonal crown was digging into my wrist and hurt because of the sharp point. I could'nt screw down the crown anymore to change the angle and if I tried to unscrewed it a bit to change the angle of the crown and to make it not be so uncomfortable, i feared water would get in it and didn't want to take such a big risk with such a $$ watch.
Another negative about the watch is, the "bullet proof strap" was starting to frey a bit, and i could only imagine what it would look like after a couple of months... also, the strap isn't waterproof because of the leather underside of the strap, so I could never swim with it or shower or anything.. it would be just a once in a while watch which I already own in my collection.. I really loved it so much, but these were things that hit me when I had it over the weekend... Then I started to think if this was the right choice I made? I put the watch back into the box so I could really think about it.. I decided I wanted to exchange the watch for something I would be getting more use out of due to the comfort.. So i went back to my local AP Ad and spoke with the owner, I told him my concern's and we are close friends so he didn’t mind me exchanging it. I had gave him an extra 500 bucks for a new strap for the legacy when I first purchased it so I could have an extra one on standby incase AP stopped making the straps one day, so since I had worn the strap that was on the legacy and it was no longer perfect as it had some creases, I told him to keep the money for the new strap and use the new strap to replace the strap I had worn over the weekend.. So he did an even exchange for me for the rosegold rubber clad ROO and keep in mind the RG Roo retail is 55,500.00 and the legacy is 47,200.00 so thats a big difference. It's a brand new H series with in-house movement new refreshed dial etc.. How could I go wrong for an even exchange for a watch thats more expensive by $8,300 bucks and I didn't pay full retail for the legacy to begin with, i got a pretty good discount for being a limited watch, but then an even better bang for my buck when I did the exchange. The owner is a great guy and he will have my biz for a very long time.. this is my 3rd AP that I have purchased from him.. I tried on the new 44mm ROOC and I love everything on it except for the dial, I am just inlove with the arabic numbers and won't give those up, so since it didn't sing to me I didn't go that route, and it wasn't about the price, because once im spending this much, what’s another couple grand for something if I really wanted it? I just love the classic size and look of the RG Roo RC 42mm. Here is a very interested fact I learned, even though the new 44mm RG RooC is 2 mm larger than the RG 42mm ROO RC, the Rubber clad RG has a couple more grams of gold than the 44mm... This is due to the new 44mm having a solid ceramic bezel and the rubberclad has a rubber bezel that has solid gold underneath the rubber. Also, the new 44mm has a exhibition case back and the 42mm RC has a solid one.. The owner had told me this as an interesting fact that he recently learned, so its good to know.. I will miss the legacy, it really was an amazing design and unique watch, just not practical for wearing because of how it felt and the fact they don't make a diving strap for it and i don't need any more unpractical watches. thanks for reading all and enjoy the pics of this classic AP! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

yeah, he is a great guy, and the watch i only put on 3 times, so not like there were any scratches or anything, it was perfect condition, just the strap which I paid him for. he understood exactly what i was saying and its a big purchase, so he wanted to make sure I was happy. that's first class service all the way.

Great choice no matter which way you ended up going, But I understand when something doesn't fit right it has to go...... I love the RGRC and Congrats again!
So take it from someone that was in your position a few months ago...... except my mind stayed confused and I did the next best thing....... :-) ![]() |

;-) Subking that is why I did not post on your original incoming... The legacy is cool, however, is blah! Your RGRC on the other hand!!! YESSSS!!!! Everything is correct! Heck AP RG is turning out to be my personal favorite in terms of the RG color!

![]() ![]() also, IMHO the audemars legacy is amazing watch, but my entire family told me it does not look like a 47K watch, even with it being an audemars. I personally think the Legacy should have been more in the low 30's as far as price goes. 47k is a big price to pay for ceramic and only very tiny rose gold pieces. But I honestly still love the legacy just not an everyday watch at least for me. The legacy was an H series and audemars could have put the inhouse movement in it, but instead they put the older movement in it which I could not understand? |

Congratulations! I think this worked out better in the end, moneytary values aside. This just makes a lot more sense at the pricepoint then the Legacy.
Well done! |
