Gasket on crown of subs. Durability

Anyone ever have durability issues with the rubber gasket on a sub (2010 or newer models). It seems pretty frail and when I screw back the crown sometimes I wonder if it's getting worn out the rubber that is

No issues on my SubC, had since early 2010.

The design of the crown and tube gaskets is well-proven over many many years. Any problem with it outside of normal service periods should be quite rare.

The one you can see is pretty much window dressing..

The seals that do most of the work are the other 3 inside that you can't see..

If you're really worried about it, or just enjoy doing regular maintenance on your things, like I do, you can apply a small dab of silicon grease to it once in awhile. I use SEIKO TSF-451. I don't by any means think that this is absolutely necessary, but I figure why the heck not, and I actually use my watches for diving. Cheers!

It would be a sweet upgrade if Rolex would install Viton orings....maybe some day.

Upon inspecting my less than a week old subc, I also noticed some rubber tearing off from the gasket, dont know if this is normal or what. from what i have read in eddie's thread, there seem to be no problem or people just ignored them.

Im in the construction business, so in our heavy equipments, i make sure all gaskets and o rings are properly maintained.

My only consolation is these parts are replaceable if indeed damaged has been done, but considering that I just bought the watch, will have to wait and see in 3-5yrs if the parts do hold up.
