My new 422 :)

With my 335 :)

Very happy with it! The flat case back sits well on the wrist and the more raised lugs makes the strap sit better on the wrist!

Edit: Sorry guys removed the back pic, I'm too lazy to edit out the serial numbers etc..But i wonder why people censor them out?

Great addition! Congrats!
I'm waiting to check the 422 alongside the 372 first hand to see which I prefer more. Saphire vs plexi, 2 hand dial vs seconds sub.
Love that 422!

GO PLEXI. You'll regret going with such a nice case with that watch killer called crystal! Kills the history off a Panerai, while that "transitional" case is all about history. U have a lot of other "Modern" Pam's to choose from that a crystal actually fits. Choice is yours mate!

gotta disagree here....sapphire + dome is a great combo. IMO, crystal vs plexi is a personal choice and does not make one watch more worthy than the other.

i think sometimes the "DNA fetish" can go too far. if "history" is so important, go vintage. both the 372 and 422 are NEW watches with modern movements.

100% agree with Cru. Plexi is not a very practical choice for everyday wear, unless you enjoy scratches. Talk of 'DNA' and history soon becomes tedious - these watches are modern designs after all, as are the marketing tactics used by Panerai...

Love the 422. I had one on before I decided to get the 372. Hard choice.

Congratulations! It is a beauty.
Wear it in good health!

good idea to edit it out....it's a personal number that's unique to the watch. one wouldn't want a fraudster putting out a fake with a real number. plus, others have said that it avoids the possibility of someone reporting it stolen to panerai.

not that i personally have heard of any stories of these kinds of things actually happening, but, i guess, better to be safe than sorry.

that all being said, if you do find the time to blur out the number, it would be great to see the back again. the power reserve indicator is a pretty neat difference from the 372.

Thanks a lot guys :)

@Cru Jones: I see. Thanks, I'll see if I can blur it out. What's the easiest way to do that? What would happen if someone reported to panerai that it was a stolen watch even though I have all the paperwork and receipt to prove it's mine? You mean fraudster as someone makes a replica with all the same engravings as mine?

I'm not very high tech and just use MS paint to put a few blobs over the characters and then re-save. I at least try to match the color.

Maybe photoshop has a blur effect? Don't know.

Regarding if it really makes a difference, don't know, but, don't want to find out either.

Agree with this. The 372 etc is what I would call neo-retro. It preserve some of the vintage features but is ultimately a modern watch. A sapphire dome rocks and takes nothing away from the feel and look of the watch.

The seconds dial takes care of that! It "takes a lot away from the feel and look of the watch".

Top collection Glenn.
Re the numbers, must admit to not concerning myself about it even though I'm aware of the possibilities. I weighed up against the likelihood and figured it was safe.

Cheers

Huge congrats & stunning piece! I love my 372 so much I'm thinking about adding the 422 as well.

P.S. To everyone complaining about the Plexi in the 372, it looks fantastic in person, and a few minor scratches gives the watch great character. Also, five minutes and a quick polish with polywatch takes 99% of the scratches out.

Plexi has a nice 'warmth' to it and is also less prone to shattering on impact (although you still end up with a broken cystal). Panerai usually supply a spare plexi with their watches, so they acknowledge the certainty of scratches and the possibility of cracks. Also, not all buyers of a $10k+ watch will take kindly to polishing scratches out of a crystal. Ultimately, it's old technology and I prefer a sapphire crystal with an a/r coating. But for buyers who enjoy the 'vintage' look and can live with the drawbacks, it's a good choice
