PAM 000 nightmare
Hey guys!
I just bought a PAM 000 last month and to my horrid last week after taking a shower with it, there was condensation inside the crystal! ![]() I have the watch sent to Richemont sydney for service.. Have this happened before with any of you? How long does the service usually take here in Australia? |

I would call it warm shower. Yeah bought it new, not from an AD though.

Glenn, it (the condensation) shouldn't happen, however maybe, as it wasn't AD sourced you may be outside of the warranty conditions, though hopefully you'll be covered.
Please keep us advised on how it all pans out. I've not had a warranty issue with two new Panerais and no service issue with the other ones I've owned. Doubtless there are others who may have a different view. Really though I'd like to think the experiences of Australian based owners are positive. Cheers Richard |

I've not had any problems, warranty or otherwise. I believe the 000 is w/r to 300 m, so a shower should certainly not be a challenge(!) I've heard of condensation in Rolex DSSDs, so I wonder if perhaps there was some moisture already in the watch (if only in the air within), and the temp difference caused it to condensate on the interior of the crystal. If I recall correctly, this is what happened to a few DSSDs

Shouldn't happen. I've had my 111 in the hot tub and it does fine.
Just unlucky that this one had a bad seal. If you bought new, it'll be covered.

Do you wind it with the lever up or down? I've seen someone try to wind their Panerai with the lock lever down which could damage the crown seal.

Personally, I would want the watch to be opened and if necessary rebuilt in a non-humid environment. At least then the seals/gaskets could be checked & replaced as well. Your watch is now with the service centre, so I'm sure it will be fine and all sorted out under warranty ![]() I found this old thread regarding a DSSD... not sure what the eventual outcome was. Seems it happened to others as well... www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=110625

So sorry to hear that m8!
![]() Unfortunately it's not the first time... But it would seem that while you wait for OP to take care of it, you will "at least" have that 422 to occupy that empty spot on your wrist... ![]() Keep us posted please! |
