Keep old Sub or get new Sub?
OK guys, time for some thoughts on this...
I bought my 1999-2000 SS Sub new from an AD as a divorce gift for myself. Been wearing it pretty much everyday since then. Got it serviced in 2010. I have decent size wrists so lately its been feeling a bit "small" especially the hour markers. With all the pics of the Sub C, it would seem it might have a better "presence" on my wrist. Also would like to have the lume back. I figure I can flip my current one and pay the difference in cash on a Sub-C. I'm not sure if I'm attached to mine as it's been everywhere with me and through everything. Thoughts??? Chris |

I have had the older model and have a TT Blue SubC and prefer the new one better as i think they have a better presence on the wrist. The new Glidelock bracelet is a good step up and so is the ceramic bezel and maxi dial. Try one on your wrist and compare,i love the ceramic Sub.

I went to an AD last week to try one. They did not have one.
I did try the DSSD. Cool watch, but not for me. I wanted to like it... The glide lock and SEL would be another plus. |

I'd keep your old Sub and save for the new one...

Well, I just think it'd be cool to have both the old and new reference.

I would keep the old sub and get the new sub also. The best of both worlds.
You mentioned divorce, maybe you have a son that you could give the old sub to when he is old enough. |

Well apart from the lume new clasp maxi type dial and the ceramic insert which functions the same as the aluminum one. They are basically the same they both use the cal 3135 and both rated the same depth rating myself would keep your 16610.If you want the lume and intend to keep the watch next time service is due. Then have the dial changed to a luminover one with no labour charge as they have to strip watch down to service.

I love the updates to the bracelet and clasp that the Sub-C brings, that makes it worth the update ... try it on and you'll be sold! |

If you have the money to buy a SubC, do it. If not, then sell the old one.

I personally prefer the older case watch. I've tried the GMT IIC and the new Explorer II and sold them both. My wrist size is 6.75." For me it all comes down to preference, feel and comfort. Good luck.

I would keep the old sub for sentimental value. That said, if you are not satisfied with your current sub and have no emotional attachment, flip it! The new sub has great wrist presence

I've thought about it myself but decided the clasp and bracelet aren't worth the out of pocket cash, to me.

Seriously, she balked at $100 watches. So I decided right after to get the Sub. Good points from everyone. I might try the AD at lunch to see if they have one to try on. I'm at least online digging the new features. 12 Years later, it might be time to get the next model. If I do keep my current Sub I may sell it in the future. I can't see owing two of basically the same thing. |

I would definitely keep the old watch. I just did the same thing you are talking about. In my case I was sorry that I didn't keep my old watch as a daily wearer. So I wound up buying another one after I traded my original. Keep it.

if the main point of the change is greater wrist "presence", i don't think the SubC will be THAT big of a difference.
maybe consider other brands? panerai? base historic model to keep the price down (000, 111, etc.). or maybe a 45mm omega planet ocean with the 8500 movement? you could keep your sub (which was well deserved) and have a second, great, watch, for not much more than the difference in price between selling your sub and buying a new one. |

first: try the new one... and if it fits right (Love on first Sight) go for it and sell the old one... maybe your AD is going to show you something else and it makes click :)

I think you will know what to do (or not do) once you try the new Sub-C on.
Let us know! |

No son to pass it too... And my daughter is 5' tall. So too big to her and she'd think it was a waste of money. I thought of a Panerai in the past. But I know to stick with a Sub. It's been on my list since I was 15. I never made it to the AD at lunch, but there is always tomorrow. |
