AD's New in house Watchmaker
So I swung by my AD last week to check out some Pateks and I got the chance to meet their new Rolex Certified Watchmaker.
They were nice enough to give me a full tour of the "lab". It was really cool to see the brand new equipment close up. Naturally we got to talking watches and he asked what I was sporting. I had on my Milgauss GV and he said they have been seeing a lot of Datejusts come in with magnetization issues. He offered to give my P series TT Datejust a free look over since it hasn't been serviced yet. He said they can pretty much do any type of servicing in house except re finish bezels on the explorers II models. Pretty cool stuff, though I'd share. Later guys! |

I got to take a tour of my AD's watchmaker's service area in Grand Rapids, MI. I had them do my last service in-house. As I was able to see how and why they did certain things I felt very comfortable and satisfied with their work.

I use the in house Rolex Certified Watchmaker at my AD and find his service better than the RSC and I have used both Dallas and New York. If I have any problems he can rectify them quickly without me having to send my watch off. I will be using him for all of my service.

That's odd... should be pretty much straight forward to do that?

My certified Rolex watchmaker is retired and works from his home. A lot of the local jewelers still use him. He's in his 70s and I desperately want to go to his house and watch him work on the watches but that would probably creep him out. I am so curious to watch someone work on these that knows what they are doing. Maybe if I bake him a cake he will agree : - )

I tried to remove a scratch in the bezel of my Explorer II 216570 myself... spent quite a while on the job but think I got a decent result: Scratch In The Bezel Of My Rolex Explorer II 216570 I'd hate to restore the bezel all the way around, though! Wish I'd taken pics of the scratch but it wasn't that bad... just a hairline scratch but it drove me nuts.
