I think I have a new grail!!

It was a lazy Friday at work so I decided to pop over to my local AD for some coffee and a chat. I've spent a lot at this AD over the past few months so I'm greeted by most of the staff by my first name. The other reason they know me so well is that I drop by without fail every 2 weeks and stay at least an hour every single time lol. They are most obliging and let me try on anything I like and will happily spend the afternoon with me if I decided to stay that long.

I've now got a trio of precious metal Rolex's, a RG, a YG and a PT model .. here's a pic before the DD and Daytona go back into the bank vault ...

To complete the collection, I now needed a WG Rolex. I wasn't interested in a Daytona as I already have two, nor was I interested in another DD. So, what other choices were there? There was of course the WG Sub with blue dial. That is planned to be next on my wishlist but I wanted to compare the blue on that Sub with the blue on the TT version. I wanted to see if they were the same blue or not. Alas, the WG blue dial Sub that I knew they had last month had been sold so I couldn't check it out. Anyways, my sales guy says to me, I've something special you may be interested in ... so he goes out back and bring out from the safe the following ...

WOW!! I think I've found a new grail!!! A WG GMT all blinged out! I've seen pics on this forum and elsewhere but have never seen one in the flesh. Pictures don't really do it justice, it really does looks magnificent when seen in person. I couldn't wear it as a daily, but being someone that loves diamonds, it's something I'd love to have if it weren't for the serious pricetag of $84k!! Anyways, I thought I'd share the pics and post them here for your enjoyment!

(P.S. It was a 'M' serial so according to all the charts, it dates back to 2008, but the AD knows for a fact that's it's brand new, it was a special order that was placed with Rolex in Jan this year, it's taken 8 months for it to arrive!)

I'm glad you are in lust, congrats!

I on the other hand would never wear a diamond crusted sports model JMHO

i like it! its different and not an everyday piece.....but why not? if you have the cash its a solid piece. clearly you have all the other precious metals so this would make sense.

beautiful collection btw

It's beautiful but I would want mine with no diamonds! This is what makes life interesting!

Very nice! I like the fact that its WG which is rare! Diamonds look beautiful, although I've never really liked baguettes only because they never shine like princess cut diamonds etc. Nonetheless, it will turn heads! Beaut

Crazy, I've never seen that! What a pimped out AD. I guess the bezel will make the second and third time zone more difficult to read, but with that bling you can have your servant tell you the time in another zone.

I used to own the TT Blue Sub C and sold it to put funds towards my WG Sub. I'm 99% certain they are the same shade of navy, which can can appear a different hue depending on lighting conditions. The fact that one bezel is yellow gold and the other is white might create a kind of optical illusion that they are different shades. I attached a few of my own images of each under different lighting conditions for comparison.

Jeez Cary, I think we might have almost the exact same taste in watches! I've also been researching WG GMT's, but I'd be interested in one with Sapphires in the bezel as it is my birthstone. I can't wait to see what you add to your collection next!

I think it's you Mike, it looks like a white gold hand to me...

A gorgeous timepiece for sure Cary, I for one love it but, although I can't say why, I would prefer a white gold Submariner if I had your collection. I think I'd rather keep the platinum DD with diamond markers as my only blingy watch.

Then again, that's just me and I still think this GMT looks great!

The GMT looks great! It would've been nice to see it on your wrist though! It's definitely a show stopper and you'd probably never find yourself in the same room with another person wearing the identical watch...if you like the diamonds then you should go for it!

Very eye catching indeed and love the AD sticker on it...DO NOT TOUCH ...forbidden fruit just makes you want it even more right?

IMO go for the Smurf as it will round off your precious metals collection better, PT, YG, RG and WG

I want it... That's a dang good looking GMT! I like diamonds, so I'm not afraid of blinging things out. Only thing I don't like is, if you were to use the GMT function, well then you'd have to count where the numbers would be on the bezel. But the bling is worth it!

Very impressive GMT, although not really one for daily wear - think I would rather have a WG Sub

The DO NOT TOUCH was because the watch is destined for the AD's sister and she insisted that the watch not be touched by anyone lol! The AD's sister is asian and has tiny wrists but loves wearing blingy men's watches!

It's a watch I couldn't realistically justify, but if I won the lottery, I'd definitely get one! It would be nice if Rolex offered a more standard GMT in WG, I'd be all over that!

But yes, more realistically, a WG smurf Sub is more on the cards for me.

Maybe I'll get one as a Xmas present for myself???

It's hard to tell from your pics if they are the same shade, they appear totally different depending on the light! I love the blue on the TT, so I'm hoping the smurf is the same awesome shade!

Haha, yeah, I enjoy my jewelry, I do like diamonds more than the average guy lol. That GMT is too hard to justify buying unless I happen to come into a large inheritance, but if I do, I'll be right onto it!
