Rolex Pocket Watch
Hi Guys,
need some help here. Who would know about Rolex Pocket watches?? Just been offered a 1920's goldfilled Watch, Rolex movement with back engraved " Eclipse " " 10 YEARS - MADE IN ENGLAND" Dial signed by local watchshop here in NZ, great condition, but haven't got a clue where to find values of these type watches. |

Ebay is a great place to ascertain a rough idea on values Mario.
There's usually quite a few on there from British military issue, to huntsman triple case examples...Many go for a few hundred, right up to 2 & 3k. Here is one I sold a few years back! https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=126560

Thanks Rob.
Will have a search tonight, but guess it would be a hard seller as it isn't Rolex signed on the dial. |

Best of luck to you, and I'd love to see some pics of it if you get a chance to snap some.. There are some fabulous examples out there.

Is a real nice goldfilled watch, but who would want to but a watch which is signed on the dial from a jeweller back in the days from our little city down here. |

Quite common to see this mate. However, I have seen a few that were cosigned by both Rolex and the store.
Back in the early 1900's the Rolex name was not as well known as it was soon to become and stores often put there name on the dial as it was a selling point for them. I'm guessing the name Rolex was not big in NZ back then. Still, it ought to be worth something to the true Rolex antique fan. Love see some pics if you can manage it. Cheers

Biggest problem with these pocket watches is the owners often think they're worth dramatically more than they are, I was offered a scratched up Dennison case gold filled "Moon" Rolex pocket watch with a pretty manky dial a ways back by this couple, and when I said I'd offer them "Sixty" the bloke said "Sixty Thousand?!" ... When I said "No, sixty dollars" he looked like he was ready to kill me, told me I was trying to rob him and left...
$60 was being generous for an un-serviced gold-filled Dennison case in manky shape

Advice
Hi,
I would like some advice regarding vintage Rolex Pocket Watches. I'm looking to buy one from WW1/WW2 era but as I am a first time buyer I have no idea what I should be looking for and what kind of questions I need to ask the sellers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Vanessa |
