What to do???? Need advice from the Paneristi....
Went to the AD this past weekend with the family. Actually went to several AD's for dofferent watch brands (AP, Hublot, IWC, Panerai). I tried on the 359, and LOVED it. My wife also loved it...she's a HUGE Panerai fan. She tried on the 048, with a pink strap, and although somewhat big on her wrist, she REALLY loved it! She told me she would definitely wear it, daily, if she had it.
I also went to see the AP ROO Panda, which I had placed as next watch to acquire on my list. I really liked it, a lot. Looks GREAT on my wrist, but the PAM 359 feels better on my wrist. I also like the all polished case and the sandwich dial "look" with the vintage patina of the 359. Herein lies the dilemma.....I am planning to get the watch for Christmas this year. Do I get the AP for myself or do I get a pair of PAM's, one for wifey and one for me? I cannot do both (AP plus Panerai(s)). I would be quite happy with the Panerai, and wifey would be ecstatic with her panerai, but I would be VERY happy with the AP!!! I already posted this in the AP forums, and of course their consensus is that I should get the AP! lol!! I need a more "balanced" opinion! Decisions....... Thanks!!!

359 is a great reference! with your sub and breitling, it would make a great pre-AP collection.
![]() if you are SURE that's the panerai you want, why not spread the holiday cheer this year and go AP next year? the panda isn't going anywhere. ![]() |

Between those two, I say AP. You may consider possible price increases in the future. Ones that affect AP will take more out of your wallet than with PAM.

My wife wears my old PAM 48 all the time. Gets alot of comments on it.
I've tried the ROC panda on a few times and although its a great watch, fits me terribly. I'm partial to 44mm Panerai. |

Thanks for all the replies thus far!!!
@ P McGee...I had the same issue. The 44mm Panerai just fits me much better than the AP. It also "feels" better! I think I am veering towards the 2 Pams....

Since each of you loved your respective PAM choices, that's how I'd go. I am very smitten with mine and find it get a lot of wrist time. JMHO...

Love at first sight... or puppy love? ![]() Of all the PAM models available, is the 359 your PAM? I think you understand where I'm going with this. I was smitten by the 320 but went home empty-handed and three months later, came home with my PAM, the 233. I would have been fine with the 320 but I am downright ecstatic with the 233 ![]() Take your time (Xmas is still 3mths away) and then take home your dream watch ![]() |

Keep the wife happy and Christmas will be Merry
![]() Its always better to have 2 grinning faces than 1 at Christmas ![]() To add to that, I find pam more comfortable for me, having said that, my wrist is 6.25 and I can only carry a RO with bracelet which is on my current list now. 44mm pams are absolutely a darling on the wrist.. |

Rule #1 - never extend/over-extend your budget. I'd say get a Panerai if that feels/sits better. The 359 might not be my personal favorite/choice as I think it is a bit of a hotchpotch design-wise but if that is the one that check all the boxes for you - go for it.
The ROO Panda is a stellar watch. AP is certainly in another bracket vs Panerai, or Rolex for that matter, but at the same time I find it less practical (very poor lume on that ROO Panda) and more easily banged up that e.g. a Rolex. Mull it over. Getting a watch for both you and your wife seems like a very nice solution for both of you. |

Tough one... I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.... Actually, not getting the wife the PAM could cost you much much more....
