Which AP would you buy as your first?
I´ve been looking at AP for some time. But after visiting my AD last week I´m really mesmerized.
I´m a little curious which AP you guys would choose as your first one? What criterias did you have, how did it meet your expectations etc?

A difficult question. Just like asking what Rolex should be the first one to get?
Firstly, you have to establish your price range, that will determine what AP's you can afford. Then you have to determine what size fits you? Depending on your wrist size, you may be limited in what models you can wear comfortably. You also have to determine what you are looking for, chrono? Diving? etc?? For myself, for my needs, for my wrist size, for my budget, I would go for a 15300 with a white dial. Which may be entirely different from your needs, budget, wrist size etc ... :-) |

Depends, are you looking for more sporty? I'd go with ROO 26400 series; or do you want more versatile, dressier?? Then definitely 15300. A classic piece as stated above.

Panda or Black Themes on bracelet if they fit. Otherwise RO line.

I am quite sure of which models I am interested in. The reason of my thread, is mostly curiosity. What you guys thought when doing your first AP purchase.
I am looking for something versatile, dressy, but still rather durable. I think 7,28" (18,5 cm) wrist size and I am pretty conservative when it comes to watch size, but don´t want it to look feminine. In my mind that would be a 15300, 26300 or 26320 and perhaps upgrading to a 26022 in the future. :)

How about the original 15202! I tried that beauty on in rosé gold and fell in love!

I think the RO 15300 is a good entry-level Audemars Piguet. That's at least what I would go for

I went with a 26300 Panda. Bit more than a 15300 and perfect for daily wear under a shirt.

I'm still waiting on my bracelet but the diver is one of the most vesatile APs. Great 42mm ROO case, simple classic dial and can be dressed up or down with the bracelet or rubber strap. I consider it my all around perfect watch. I think its similar to the rolex sub in versatility but MUCH HIGHER qualty and more rare. That being said...other watch brands are really not doing it for me anymore. My want list in now full of APs. |

Seems like most of you really prefers the 15300. It seems like a great first AP, even though I´ve only seen a 15202 live. But they are about the same size I guess?

My first is a blue face 15300 and I couldn't be happier. I got my classic one out of the way so I can go a little more out there w/ the next. Like the Volcano...

You're doing the right thing by checking as many out in person as you can. I ended up getting a Diver for my first AP a few months ago. Prior to seeing it in person, it was really not near the top of my list. When I tried several different ones on, a few that I thought I wanted moved down the list, and one that I really hadn't fairly considered clearly jumped straight to the top. Every model mentioned in this thread is fantastic and will not disappoint, but the "right" first one is a personal thing. 15300 is an awesome piece (although the 15202 appeals to me a little more), Panda is amazing, and obviously I'm nuts for the Diver. The 26400's are insanely gorgeous. Take your time, look at as many as you can in person, and you'll end up being thrilled with your purchase.

My first AP had to be a ROO and it was the Panda for me. The new 44 series is also very nice.

Probably better to pick out a couple you like...I find this brand very addictive. All kidding aside, I was taken by the L.E. 57th Street edition to start - It still pains me that I did not purchase this piece - especially given the market price on the 57th Street. I always thought the Safari would be first for me - but I found the Diver super comfortable, so I did that one first. I was lucky enough to add the Safari as well. I like the style of the Diver/Safari but I am always find myself looking at the 15300/15400 as well. |

I would go for 15300 or other ROs line as my first. Then slowly climbing towards Diver and ROOC.
Some of us may go completely the opposite route, ROOC-Diver-RO Anyway, you can't go wrong with both routes.
