Storage for your luxury watches

Now that I getting my second Rolex, I would like a safe that I can store my 2 Rolexes and my higher end watches in. I would have about $30000 in those watches. I need advise on what you do. I would like to get one that has winders in them. Advise please.

Good Day
Ken

You can purchase a safe & battery operated winders to put the watches on. Just make sure the dimensions of the safe internally are large enough to store the watch winders.

Brown Safe company has great winder safes... I've had good experience with their safes in the past. I think you can get smaller ones with 6 winders for like 5 or 6k...

They also make wall safes and floor safes which can be anchored to framing..both great options!! Wall safes are the way to go, they have fold down door, built in winders with storage also..

This is exactly the kind of storage that I have. Large 300 pound bolted down safe with Orbita Insafe4 watch winder.

What does that cost on average a year? Ballpark.

I keep wondering if I should go through the trouble of getting a safe that will actually be secure (not as easy as one might think) or go with the bank option.

1 on my wrist at all times, 2 in the bedroom, but in different locations. I figure if we ever get burglarized they might find one, but probably not both.

This forum is going to make me bankrupt. But, I feel this is a very important topic that many (including myself) just ignore. I finally bought a large/tall safe.. mind you I only spent $1500.

But after seeing the Brown Safe Company mentioned above and checking out their models.. WOW !!! I want one of their "man safes".

These folks make watch safes for the uber wealthy. Minimum 100k here.. but these are so nice, that many just display them in the livingroom. I have seen one in person at my AD.... if I had the $$.. I'd get one. Stunning deoesnt begin to describe how nice they are.

Guys, I’ve got a slightly different take on this.

1. Home safes.

I don’t think safes are the total solution. Firstly if you are robbed and are away then the thief knows the safe is there and knows there is a high probability that there is something valuable inside that he probably wants. Bear in mind they are also looking for wall and floor safes so assume they will all be found.

This could result in two things. Firstly he could back another time with some heavy equipment and open it up. Even if it is only kids robbing the house the first time you can be assured this will be kicked up the chain of organized crime who have the means to cut the safe open with the right equipment. Secondly if he really wants the stuff inside he could wait until you get home and hold a gun to your head or worse to your kids.

2. Bank Vaults

Very secure but impractical. If you have a few watches or your wife has some rings etc you don’t want to be trotting back and forth to the bank all the time.

3. Alternatives

The best form of prevention is to make the thief believe there is nothing valuable in the house. I’ve been robbed a couple of times in my life and I’ve hidden the valuables in places nobody would look. i.e. the garage. E.g. in an empty battery compartment of a large camping lamp. If you have been robbed you know they ransack the whole house turning over beds etc. They don’t bother with a stuffed garage full of junk.

I've also seen wall clocks on amazon which have a compartment for valuables but I think these maybe too obvious plus I'm sure the thieves know about this trick.

Just make sure you detail it in your will because if you die and nobody knows then whoever ends up with say the camping lamp they will get a pleasant surprise.

The other thing now is with technology you can install internal cameras and use your smart phone to monitor the house when you are away. If someone breaks in you can shout out something over a pre-installed speaker and then call the cops.

Hi DJ,

You are 1000% right on all point imho. I NEVER thought of the garage frankly.. I put a 150K bimmer inside.. so why not hide a watch? I could even have a wall safe in the garage hidden by an actual cabinet.. brilliant idea.

I agree 100 percent you are much better leaving it at the bank then at home. After all you can only wear one at a time anyways.

safety depo box 100%.

if you're willing to spend on a nice heavy box, any thief will know there's probably something nice in it. so, why advertise and have a thief rip your floors apart and risk the security of the entire home?
