Rolex Bracelet
Hi, Does anyone know if the rolex bracelet on the Explorer II G-Series (i.e. the last series produced before the new model) has solid center links ? I know it has had solid end links fo many years but it is the center links I am interested in.
Thanks for your help. |

It will make no difference whatsoever whether its got solid or the other links that have been on past oyster bracelets for decades. As oyster bracelets since they were introduced 50 years ago have a very long life. All you have to do is keep them clean and wash say once a week in soap and water and normal routine service.

Welcome to the Forum!!!
There are two types of links in the Oyster bracelet - permanent and removable. The whole thing is super robust - see how a permanent link has 3 pins involved? And a removable link has 2 screws you can undo... As you can see from both pics, calling the center link solid or hollow is fairly meaningless - even the current ones have less material than being "solid" since there are 3 holes drilled through them to allow the screws to function. Larry's point is especially true since the most changes that have occurred lately are in the clasp and polishing.

Yes it will fit but just cannot see any point of the expense to do it even if you could source one.The new clasp on its own will fit but even the clasp is around a £1000 again if you could source one.The old oyster bracelet and clasp has a well proven track record for reliability and longevity of life.

No, the bracelet ref. 77210 for the new Explorer II 216570 won't fit onto the old Explorer II 16570 since the bracelet for the new Explorer II has 21mm endlinks while the old bracelet has 20mm endlinks...

Would be great to get some views on whether to go for Explorer II white dial G-Series or opt for the new model (216570). This is to compliment my GMT C and black dial daytona. I love the previous gen model and find the new model too big / out of proportion, but perhaps I am just not used to it.....

As always.....comes down to a matter of preference. I compared the two and personally prefered the look of the 40mm 16570.

And if he asks if the NEW bracelet would fit onto the previous gen Explorer II, the answer would be no.
