Legibility of the daytona white face with gold hands?

Hi All,

Browsing the daytona and came across the two tone white face with gold hands.
http://www.rolex.com/en#/rolex-watch...d-m116523-0040

Does anyone have this watch, can kindly comment on legibility of the dial and hands. I'm looking that the white face and the gold chrono hands look to be difficult to read.

Also I know you can choose the dials to a certain extent, but can you say ask for different colour hands? I'm thinking black hands would be more legible?

Cheers for any advice.

I bought that exact one from DavidSW ( a great guy) several years ago and traded it back to him for a black face stainless Daytona because it got no wrist time for that very reason-I couldn't tell the time easily. There again my eyes were 52 at the time. I wear my Black Bay almost exclusively now. No problems seeing it and the black Daytona is in the safe waiting on one of my sons I guess.

I've had both the white and black dialed versions and currently have a black one. The problem is neither are particularly legible compared with other similar watches. The Speedmaster is very easy to read mainly because it has a very uncomplicated dial with plain white hands. The Daytona has a lot going on with the dial and the hands are not great at first glance. Out of the two the white one just edges it ( strangely enough) over the black one. I'm 56 and legibility is one of those things I have to think about when I'm buying a watch! The Daytona for me is one of those watches that I can't just glance at like I can with a Sub or Explorer, consequently it tends to be a weekend wearer for me.

My TT can be hard to read under some light. I had the stop watch second hand painted black at the first service. That atleast made that function better.
For me the sub dials would be much easier to read if they were all black instead of just the black rings. I wish there was a color combo that would look good and that RSC would leave alone to replace all the gold hands. On a side note RSC did not change the black painted hand at service.

Love the watch. But agree Daytonas are tough to read.

I have tried on both the black and white faced Daytona's and neither one is very easy to read. I believe that the main reason is that the hands are to narrow and they do not stand out against the dial.
