SS Daytona _ BSSSSSSSSSS
Helloooooo dear members ... just a newbie who needs to vent about South Florida ADs.
Some of the BS I have heard amaze me. What's up with the atittude for inquiring about SS Daytona. If I could afford RG, I wouldn't ask for SS...simple as that. So what's with the SAs and bad marketing policy??? "We can put you on WL but you will need to spend $$ first" "Are you a longtime Mxxxx customer?" "You want a SS Daytona, we can do this but you will need to pay in full first (=$12K). The Waiting Time is 6 months. "You can deposit $6K, no wait $5K and it should be there in a month or two". "If we had one, Mr .. it wouldn't be for you" "I'm sorry Sir, I don't know what you are talking about. We don't have SS Daytona. Only for VIPs.. " "Yes we do have one, it's $ 14K pre-owned... you should get it right now because you won't find one at this price anwyhere in the world" ![]() ![]() Trying to understand the marketing logic of Rolex?? Shouldn't customers be treated as royalty so they come back for more? Good Day All |

Welcome to TRF,
There are good AD's around, I walked in to an AD for the first time and asked about a SS Daytona. They had a black dial just come in (my fav) and it was mine at the list price. If you've had enough of AD's with attitude we have the best trusted sellers right here on TRF. Good luck with your hunt. ![]() |

Trusted sellers here will treat you far better and you never have to leave your couch. Brick and mortar stores are always a pain. Everything you need is at your fingertips here

BNIB from David with my name on the card. I don't see the reason to go to an AD.

I guess the AD's in South FL missed the memo regarding 116520 supply exceeding demand in most areas for a couple of years now, lol.

I don't know what it is about stainless steel Daytonas. Rolex must not make that many for the US market. Most dealers I have ever asked about them say they haven't received one in months, and they can't ask Rolex for them, the watches just show up.
In comparison, a beautiful two tone Daytona can be had for a nice discount! Weird. I like the Daytona concept, racing history, etc. I might go for one sometime in the future, more as a special event watch. If I do that, the two tone actually makes sense since I have the Explorer as a daily and GMT II as my weekender. |

I think it's pretty funny some ADs still say its hard to get. If its one of those small independent ADs I could see them only getting 1-2 yr. I know a few ADs around me that still have them either in the case or in the safe.

not sure I'm allowed to give ADs name in this forum ..
they are not small and not independents either... I think they just playing the Hermes game pretending it's hard to find and Highly desirable so you don't start negotiating. |

You don't have to give the name of the AD . . . . we al know it
We'll this Orlando AD told me if I bought a Sky Dweller I could buy a SS Daytona . . . But I had to go for the Sky Dweller first since I wasn't (and never will) a 'good' customer I was at the bottom of the list and the Sky Dweller would bring me to the top . . We'll to be honest I would buy my Daytona here on TRF . . . No doubt about it . . . and for a better price ! HAGWe all Gonna get a beer ! ![]() |

I have no idea what the deal is with the daytona. I saw the watch in person and it is nothing special at all ....
Just to be clear I'm not saying it's a bad watch or a bad Rolex. I just don't understand why it is the one watch you have to wait for. I have never heard of any one having to wait for any other watch, so when you hear you have to wait for this one you think wow it must be special but it really isn't. The worst thing about limiting the supply is it allows grey dealers to pounce. I visited the site of a grey dealer in the UK who were selling a September 2012 Dayona for £8,950 and the funny thing is it was gone by the same afternoon. Am I missing something here ? Why are people so desperate to get one of these ? |

I don't understand the bullshit these ads say. You can buy plenty of them on here or on eBay.they must think people are stupid.

I was offered one that was 13 months old for £6,500. This was a month or two before the last price rise. I knew the guy through work and he knew how much I appreciated watches. I could probably have haggled it down because the guy didn't care about price as much as he cared about it going to someone that would treat it well. At the time I had £5k saved up for a SubC and he was even willing to let me pay him the rest "when I can" (he knows my parents so it's not like I could run away and not pay.)
I was wearing it for a few hours (from lunch to the end of the work day) and it didn't do any thing for me. I had Sub tunnel vision at the time but still. My SS Rolex preference probably goes Sub>DJII>ExplorerII>>>Daytona. |

Daytona wise, you went to the wrong place I guess. Try smaller indepedant AD in OR. I only had to buy one LV before they sold me one in the '06. Another member from CA drove up to PNW, and bought one as the first time customer last year I think. Better yet, no sales tax in OR too! |

![]() I fail to see what such a post is going to do for you.. If you want a SS Daytona from one of these Dealers, put down your deposit and wait for it to arrive.. That's what the rest of us do.. ![]()

As someone who is not all that familiar with the practices of Rolex AD's, is this common practice for all models? Are people regularly turned away when they have cash in hand? Just curious...

My AD was fine with mine, no big deal, no discount but other perks including free servicing for other expensive watches, a good deal all around for me. Got it two months ago, white face SS. I was not sure about the watch for years, kept trying it on and rejecting it, but I am glad I bought it, love it and am wearing it now. A few have said it is impossible to use for timing since the sub dials are so hard to read. Usually when I time a steak I use a g shock, but tried my Daytona tonight and they are right, it is useless for timing, couldn't read a thing.
But I still love it, go figure. T |

I still can't understand why Daytona's from an AD in the US are still so hard to get. TRF sellers have BNIB SS Daytona's for sale all the time, and they all get them from US AD's. Maybe SS Daytona's are so hard to get 'cause the AD's are selling them all to resellers??

it may have to do with how rolex usa distributes their allocation. i heard that usa ad's that sell closer to, or at msrp get the latest and more popular models. discount ad's get what they can get. that's why they may ask for deposits because rolex usa has to deliver on a done deal, and not necessarily just send desirable stock to see if it sells over time. they might even say there's little to none available to save face b/c they can't really get one for regular inventory if they asked. |

I bought mine on eBay for 13.5K. If I had to buy one again, I'd get one from a seller here for less. Still happy with my watch, and happy I bought it.

Avoid the hassle of the AD and source the watch right here from one of the trusted sellers. You will have your watch in a few days and for less than an AD would charge you.
Good luck with your search. Post pictures when you purchase it. |

That's how it was before 2007. It's not like that anymore. Apparently those AD's didn't get the memo.
