My Local Family Owned AD Got Robbed

Tis the season...for the lowlifes to come out of the woodwork. Anyone who lives in the DC area might have heard of this AD. The Alexandria Police released the video which I must say is quite good quality. Apparently there are gangs recruiting around the country to stage these robberies and they are well planned out. What sucks is we honest law abiding consumers have to pay for this nonsense. Hope the link works.

They'll be arrested by the weekend. Seriously, no MASKs, come on, make it a little bit easier.

They are my AD as well. We live in Alexandria and hate to see this type of crime taking place.

These types of events are far too common nowadays. Hopefully they are eating Christmas dinner off of a tray in a small cell.

There was a spree about a year ago, then it quieted down. Hopefully this is not the start of a new round of these smash-and-grabs.

We will all rejoice as they will be behind bars shortly.

Back in the days, if you were caught stealing, they literally CUT your hand off. These idiots deserve this punishment.

Or maybe they could have their hands smashed with hammers.

The last time I was in an AD was many years ago ...

... but even then they had automatic door locks and you had to be buzzed in. Seriously doubt these ass clowns would have gotten in there with their hoods up in that one. Pathetic -Ron

All they had were hammers and the employees didn't tackle them? I would have had that kid on his a$$ in 5 seconds...

These AD's are insured no? I am not sure it is worth the risk that they are high, armed, mentally unstable etc (likely all of the above). No reason to get shot for a rolex that is insured. With that said, it sure would be tempting to ring one of their necks. Can't wait til they get caught trying to sell them on craiglist for 500 bucks.

Yea it really is a shame. I know the owner and his daughter. Good people. They've been in business for 50+ years a,d most of their employees have worked there for 20+ years. I was chatting with the daughter shortly after it occurred and she was going over her options.

1) Hire an armed guard but it's pricey - $50/hour

2) Install the nuclear blast proof case they use at the ADs that sell Patek, Lange, etc. I've seen those cases and there is no way in holy creation you smash thru those.

I could tell it really rattled the staff in that they didn't display anything in their window for a while. They mentioned the suspects were probably from out of state as that is how the gangs operate - recruit from one area and send them to another. They made their escape in a car that was waiting for them. Oh well I hope they get caught as much as all of you.

That is a BIG NO NO. You need to understand, most of these low life thugs are high on weed, crack or whatever when they try to pull this stunt. Theres a very good chance they might have a gun underneath their jackets and it's not worth risking your life for a Rolex watch. Also, I'm sure that place is insured. I use to work in the ghettos so I know whats up.
