Greetings Daniel...I am also a new member. So this is my first post and question to you since you are 'into' watches...
I purchased a SS Dated Submariner Oct. 2006, but don't wear it much because it does not keep good time. It runs fast...5 seconds or so each day...two days would be almost 10 seconds fast etc, etc. Is that normal? I know that it should be within 3-4 minutes per month...are they really off by that much? Can it be adjusted to keep accurate time? Ron Last edited by bigmac; 4 December 2007 at 06:24 AM.. Reason: Spelling error |

Hi Ron Thanks for visiting my thread. -Rolex wathces that are COSC certified, runs between -4 to +6 seconds a day. These are also the criteria of the Rolex watches. I often recomend a new Rolex owner to wear the watch, a whole month without setting it. From there we can calculate and see if its deviating from the standard. The reaseon I/we do this is because the watch needs to get to "know" the new owner. By this I mean the lubrication need to adjust itself. Does this make sense? -They can be off that much. BUT if you compare a COSC certified watch to a normal Automatic watch, you can see twice as much deviations on the normal watches. Depending on the watch. - What do you see as accurat time? A Rolex watch goes 99.6% accurate. But no mechanical watches (yet) goes a 100%. The reason for this is because of the many factors in this calculations. The watchparts, lubrication, the main spring, temperature, what the position the watch is in etc... Hope this was a good enought answer. But go to your local AD and ask them to take a look at it. They can see how it goes on a computer, and then test on a simulator. I leave the ball in your hands ;) |
