Icon17 1972 Datejust, yay or nay?

I'm looking at this 1972 Datejust, kinda like it.

What do you say, is it worth the time and trouble to take to my AD to have it checked if it's authentic? or ?

It's what collectors often refer to as "Sigma" dial, and it means the hour markers were made of solid gold.

A "Sigma" dial is often signed as: sigma symbol T SWISS T sigma symbol

I know why you got confused and the writing below 6:00 is further distorted by the plexi glass. You can see better pictures here (watches and pictures do not belong to me):

It will be Arabic, they made these for people high up in the military generals etc and the royal families in Saudi Arabia, Oman also and emirates etc. I can't read Arabic so I can't tell you where that one is from sorry

Phonetically, it says something like "Wabus", whatever that may mean. I am sure we must have some arab speaking forumers who can educate us on this.

How much should I pay for this watch?

I see similar watches prices around 2.000€ , I think it would make a great gift for a relative of mine. :)

My first post. Hello everyone. The Arabic actually is قابوس "Qaboos" which is a name of a person. It is the same name of Qaboos the Sultan of Oman.

Is that a 1601?

Magnification looks correct. I don't like the distortion of the T Swiss T.
