31mm or 36mm??

I am a 30 year old, female lawyer looking to buy my first Rolex and can't decide on a 31mm Lady DateJust, jubilee band, pink dial or a 36mm. I've tried both on and can't decide. My wrist measures right at 6 1/4 inches. I want something I can wear every day. Which size would be best? And also what are your thoughts on the pink dial? I want something classic that I can wear for a long time. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

You can't go wrong with either...purely your preference. It seems bigger is more fashionable these days, so if that matters, there you go.

I personally like the pink stick dial, very classy and should hold up well over time. And should be dignified enough for the courtroom as well...

Welcome and good luck. Lets see some pics when you've made your choice!

Welcome to TRF. Given your wrist size, I'd suggest the 36mm as the 31mm will look quite small IMHO. But this is all personal preference. Good luck.

I think the pink dial is nice for a woman. I don't think you can go wrong with either the 31mm or 36mm. Do you wear a watch currently? What size is it? Do you think it is a good size, too small, etc.? Good luck on your decision.

Check out the 34mm Airking or the the 34mm date.
Both would be large on your wrist without being huge.
There has been a few post of women wearing each over the past ten days.

IMO 31mm will be ok for every day wear and formal, whilst 36mm may look more sporty on your wrist...although only you can decide what looks best on you. Good luck.

WELCOME to TRF!!!!

I think either will be great and stay classy. I am also a lawyer and enjoy wearing my Rolex to work and to court. the diamond dial gives the watch a little extra dress to go with formal clothes, and looks good to clients since image is important.

I'd say get this one:

or this one with pink gold -

I had a friend of mine your size try on my DJ 36 when I owned it. Before she put it on she was "against wearing something so big." But when she put it on, all second guesses stopped and she liked it a lot. I think either would be fine for the job and long term. I say go for the one you really like the most, if not you'll likely flip it and get what you really wanted to begin with (speaking from experience here). Im a fan of pink so i say DO IT!!! Good luck and post pics.

31 over 36 especially for work....
34mm like Date or Airking is perfect for fashionably big watch on a woman.

Many will post their wife or girlfriend with a 40mm Daytona or Explorer II and well...it's obvious to me that most posts are being polite on the look/size.

Sure there is a Hollywood actress court side at a Lakers game with a Deep Sea Sea Dweller on but...well we re all not movie stars. Madonna wears those pointy bras and stilettos but that doesn't mean it's going to look good in real life!at work or at a parent teacher conference.

Maybe I would look good in one of those Freddie Mercury outfits though....

Post some pics when you get it...whatever it is. Good rule of thumb for man or woman...if it goes over the edge of your wrist someone is laughing at you somewhere....

My opinion...It can't be wrong.

I would suggest that you try on a variety of sizes and take your time deciding. I rushed into my first Rolex purchase (26mm Lady Datejust) and regretted that I had not bought a larger size, not only because of how the watch looked on my wrist, but also because of readability.

The pink dial is very nice. Good choice!

Keep us posted, and welcome to TRF.

Go to a local Rolex AD and try them both on. You will be able to feel and see the differences. Good Luck! You can't go wrong with a Rolex...

I got my wife the midsize oyster dj with pink face, roman numerals, and oyster bracelet years ago. She has currently switched to my new silver face with sticks dialed 36mm dj with jubilee. She likes the larger size as she can read it better. I think it looks great on her too.

Try a 34 mm Date. I think you will like it with your wrist size.

36mm would be my suggestion. 36mm is not exclusively a mans watch anymore. Women wearing larger watches is not a fad or a trend... women have been wearing them for over 15 years so its not going anywhere. Just don't get it sized to perfectly as it takes away from the look. I would suggest one link larger than what you would normally wear.

There is a thread about women wearing mens watches with several pics. Also, If you get sick of it, the 36mm would be easier to sell.

Try them on and go with preference, but I think 36mm will do it. Welcome

I'd say 31mm. But you really have to go try both on in person to be sure.

Welcome to TRF!

Whatever works for you as others have said is the right watch. I bought my wife the 31mm which seemed to be the perfect size. The salmon (pink) dial is timeless and a good choice.

Hers is her RG TT with concentric dial and she has about the same wrist size as you. Hope this helps.

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

It seems to me that the 31mm will be ergonomically correct

My wife and 21 year old daughter both wear 36 mm Rolexes and look great on them. Both are small women (5' 2") and easily carry of the size. My wife is a real estate developer and wears a 36 mm SS Datejust, oyster bracelet, white index dial and my daughter, a college senior, has an Explorer 1. Don't be too concerned about the 36 mm being too big. Good luck.

Most people are wearing larger watches these days. I bought my wife a 26mm DJ & now I'm sorry I didn't get her either a 31 or 36mm. IMO a 31mm will be perfect for you.

I went through this exact scenario with a female friend of mine. At first she really liked the 31. Then just for kicks she tried on the 36 and immediately liked it better. She's a slender girl too and it didn't look too big either. The 36 just has more presence. Definitely try it on and go with what you like. But I think that at your age you will like the 36 better. Its more in style but at the same time will still classy. I say go big and don't look back.
