tudor 9421 Monte Carlo: dial and mov't question
Case on this is clearly wrong.
Any ideas on whether the 7750 movement is correct and if dial and hands are OK? Thanks. |

I assume this is supposed to be a 94200 last of the Monte Carlo variations. The hands look wrong. The second hand looks like it's from an earlier 9420/0. Original with this dial was red and didn't taper down evenly from one end through the center to the other. The short end was wide and tapered down until it met the the center ring which was slightly wider. It then exited the center ring much narrower with a very slight taper out to the tip.
Minute and hour hands look way to long and wide. The end of the minute hand should stop half way through the bold printed 1/5th of second ring on the dial and the hour hand should be short of the hour markers. Not even sure the dial is right. Fonts look off. Normally "OysterDate" is printed under "Tudor". Shield looks out of porportion Hour markers look too long. No tritium pips at the end of each hour marker. I'd be running or returning. |

Thank you. I can see exactly what you mention. And, the movement?

This is a Valjoux 7750 movement. Originally was a 17 jewel and much later changed to 25 jewel. I don't know the exact timing of this change but I believe this watch is way too early for the 25 jewel version. I'd guess this is an add not original. Again I would run or return.

I don't have any solid references, but there are some flags
As noted above. I've not personally seen that font and text On the movement previously which is disconcerting. |
