Daytonas spotted in showcase

I was in Christopher's in Pawleys Island SC a few days ago and they had several SS and TT Daytonas in the showcase if you are looking for one from the AD. They said they expected a Skydweller the first of March. They like most ADs ship out of state with no sales tax.

Last edited by 689maple; 11 January 2013 at 09:24 PM.. Reason: correct spelling of Pawleys Island

I have seen a couple at AD in Austin, am really considering a black dial SS, now that they can be had without winning the get the call from AD lottery.
Just avoid Tourneau, they still think 6 year old no paper SS Daytonas are worth $16k.

Yeah, the availability of the daytona's is loosening up. I don't know if Rolex is manufacturing more or people aren't buying them as quick now but they seem to be sitting at some AD's for a little while

Is it just me or are those all either gold or TT models? I don't see any SS there.

I think the high price may have something to do with it too

After the last price increase...this is the first time I see the sellers on the forums offering BNIB for less than retail. I think once it hit the 10K mark...they became easier to get, at least for those who know (us). Maybe the average semi WIS still think it's hard to get and will pay retail +.

In my area (Philly and burbs) they don't display in the case and act like there is still a waiting list. One salesperson even told me they can get them but only for really good customers.

That's true. That pic shows only gold or TT models, but is what I had on hand. I don't think ADs necessarily have an abundance of SS models, but in general I have seen more SS Ds all around in the pre-owned/one off sellers market as of late.

Some grey dealers in the UK still charge £1k over MSRP for BNIB SS Daytona

I'm sure a quick e-mail to one of the sellers here would get anyone a nice BNIB SS Daytona...

Dont believe the hype... lots of SS on the market. I would no way pay over MSRP even in its heyday

That looks exactly like every AD... there are tons of Daytona's as long as you don't want one is SS. FYI - There has never been a shortage of TT or gold Daytonas.

Nope, not at all.

Every dealer I have ever been to has had a case full of Daytona's. And they are all precious metals.

Not quite correct. I've just checked the tree outside my house, no Daytona.

Daytonas ALWAYS available in the vast majority of ADs' windows going right back to the dawn of time (we'll sort of).

Just always YG, WG or TT. Seldom a SS.

I go to my 3 favourite ADs every few months and they always have a great selection of Daytonas on display, but never the SS model.

Not saying they don't have them possibly stashed in the back, but just not on display.

There's a SS white in the window in the Venice AD right now. I've seen them in China too. The waiting is over.

Time for the 42mm ceramic SS...

I have seen them everywhere in nyc, but was recently at rolex (Wempe i guess) on 5th avenue trying on a sky-dweller and the gentleman i was speaking to said that there was really no problem getting them. Might have to wait a week or so if they didn't have it in stock but nothing like it was five years ago.

Saw a white dial Daytona in the case at Bailey, Banks and Biddle in Pleasanton, Ca last week. Offered at retail, if $11,750 is the current retail. Don't know if its still there.

Two weeks ago I was down in St. Thomas and they had the ss black dial with a $12000 tag plus offered me 5% discount. I ended up going with the new 44mm DSSD instead. Should have purchased both.

Are you sure they were SS or WG? An AD having "several" SS Daytona's would be beyond unusual

My AD has never had a SS in the case. Now they do. I suspect the last price increase has made some buyers think twice. Bought mine long before the increase and can tell you I would think twice before paying what they are asking now. My Exp II 42 pre-price increase has been worth every penny.
