Explorer vs. Exlporer II question

The Explorer and Explorer II are significantly different from each other. Is Rolex planning to phase out the Explorer in lieu of the Explorer II or are they going to keep both?

A second question.....what would be the better choice: the original Explorer or the 07 Air King? They look very similar to each other. Are there any advantages one has over the other? It looks like the Explorer comes only in one color, black, while the 07 Air King comes in a variety of colors.

True, explorer 1 is only in black face, explorer 2 has black and white face

I doubt they will discontinue the explorer one, since it has been going since late 60's.

For me the explorer is the grounding of the company's sports models, it would therefore seem silly to phase it out.

well..... the AK is 34 mm while the explorer is 36 mm....

the new AK is now a certified chronometer and has a upgraded bracelet which is awesome.....

I will and hope Rolex does not discontinue explorer. The reasons are Expl is a classic Rolex icon. There is no different between Expl. and Air King inside. Same movement.

I don't think that Rolex will discontinue the Explorer.

But then again, only Rolex knows!

Neither of them is "better".........just different.

Personally, I'd prefer the Explorer over the new AK!

For me,better choice would be Explorer. It`s quintessential sporty Rolex. And it`s slightly larer than AK.
