AP ROO Panda for AP ROO Steel 44m?

Hey guy,

Considering upgrading my ROO Panda for the AP ROO Steel 44mm. But before anything wanted to ask opinions from the boys on the WIS forum.

Also, any pics to support an arguement would be appreciated

Both are amazing pieces. I personally love the new 44mm ROOs. However, the Panda is just gorgeous.

Very tough choice. Both great AP's, my personal fav is the Bumble Bee.

It depends on your wrist size.
If I have 7' or more, I would get ROO 44mm.

I don't consider it as an upgrade. They are different watch. Both are very nice in their own rights, but the 44mm looks more avant-gard to me due to the stick markers and rectangular push-pieces. The only drawback of the 44mm is that there's no other strap options at the moment, unless custom made.

A shot from the boutique

I just did the same thing recently. The Panda was my absolute favorite and I loved that watch. I didn't love worrying so much about the beautiful bezel that seemed to pick up hairlines regardless of how careful I was.

I debated it for a long time, thinking the Panda might have more pop, but after finaliing pulling the trigger, I have not looked back!

My wife doesn't care much about watches but agrees that she prefers the 44ss as well.

Not exactly no other strap options. It also fits the black croc and GP strap from the other 44mm cases.

Thanks so much for the opinions guys! Seems like its still pretty split.

I do agree, both stunning watches, different but both very AP. Will be going to Marcus later this week. Will have a look and hopefully post some pics as well!

Cheers!

I would say your wrist size would be the deciding factor, for me, any ROO above 42mm would be just too big.

At 7 inches, 44 should fit perfectly.

My wrist is about 7 inches. My first was 44 FC, my second is going to be Panda. For me both are great choices.

I suggest the 44.

P.S. What strap is on the Panda?

Only strap you need on Panda is the Singapore F1 strap, IMO!

My wrist is only 6.75inches, but most 44mm watches fit well, with no lug overhang.

The Panda is on a black hornback with white stitching.

Mate, try it on because it will wear like a 46/7mm watch esp with those wide chrono pushers, like a Breitling Super Avenger. I would say only a guy with 7.5 inch wrists or very wide wrists can pull it off naturally without looking like hes trying to be noticed.

Agreed, and this has been my ultimate dilemma...

At the negligible difference in cost for me, I chose the slightly cheaper bumblebee , because to me it had much more character/wore a little better for me and just POPPED ! Just too beautiful

44mm Forged Carbon seemed a bit monotone and dull, still a beauty but not enough character for me !

As for the Panda vs 44mm ROO? I like how the 44mm has the ceramic bezel, a little more care free of a wear and rugged, a lot of people scratch up the ROO brushed ss bezels easily.

I'll say this however, I have worn my Panda for the past 6 weeks DAILY, and it still looks brand new ! But then again all of my stuff looks like this, I take care of it and thankfully don't have any careless mishaps..

The 42mm panda to me just shines and pops more in my eyes, and another thing I love about the 42mm ROO's is the horn back options which are just awesome..

Panda for me

Martin - I made it almost 2 yrs without any marks and then magically got some. As much as I love the shiny SS bezel, I think I may be going ceramic from now on. Now I love the contrast.

I would not give up ROO Panda for the ROO 44 mm, to me Panda is more versatile, can wear with strap or bracelet. Can't do the same with ROO 44 mm

If you are good with the size of the 44mm, that's the way I'd go. The scratch resistant bezel is the main reason for me, and I do like the stick markers + hands of the 44mm vs the arabics + hot dog hands of the panda.

Does suck that there is no bracelet option for the 44mm. If you have to have a bracelet then stick to the panda.

All the reasons Im looking to go with the SS 44mm over the panda...and the display back showing the 3126 is also a nice touch.

Just sold one of my Panerai last night to start funding it. What have you guys done to me?

I love the new model as well in pictures - never tried it on.

I do love ceramic bezels over stell though, the scratches accumulates on steel pretty fast :).
