How do you allocate wrist-time to your watches?
Life used to be simple. I got a daily wearer watch which I wear everyday and a weekend watch. But now, I got 5 watches and I am kind of loss every morning which one to put one. I still pick one as my daily wearer ( usually my Omega PO but now challenged by my new Explorer ). The remaining watches then fight for weekend wrist time. Most end up not having any wrist time weeks on end which makes me feel "guilty" not wearing them after spending so much money.. Can't imagine how those with 6, 7 or even 10 or more allocate their wrist time.
So how do you guys rotate your watches? Do you have a daily wearer or do you rotate them on a weekly basis evenly? Have you got a regular favorite and the others just decorate your watch box? Or do you toss a coin? |

My mood or activity. Certain times of the year, I lean toward one style of watch. From Rolex/Omega to Suunto Ambit.

Varies depending on my mood and what's going on. Usually though, each gets multiple days at a time, and only very rarely wear more than one in a day.

I try to rotate all my watches but obviously some get worn more often than others.

I have a easy time with only 2 watches. Day Date YG for every day. 14060m sub for on the water boating and pool time. But there has been times the DD has filled in instead of the sub.

I gave my IWC AT to my dad when I got my sub two year ago. I wear my sub all day every day no matter what I'm doing.

There are times when one or two don't get worn for weeks...maybe months. However, once I focus in on them after a long absence, it's like having a new watch!
I don't force myself to wear a watch. If it sits for a while, so be it. Bottom line is that I chose them all for a reason and they belong in the watch box.

I have 4 Rolexes, a Breitling, a JLC, a GP, a Glycine, and Omega X-33, plus a Casio G-Shock and a Citizen Blue Angel. All are automatics. I have a vintage Corum dress watch that is a manual wind.
My Rolex Y Series all black GMT-II gets about 90%+ of my wrist time. Occasionally I will strap on one of my 2 DJs, my YG DD, or my rose gold JLC Master Geographic if Im wearing a suit or tux. The X-33 goes to Florida with me to time our morning walks. The rest of the collection gets occasional wrist time as the mood strikes. Other than the Corum, which almost never gets worn, the GP ww.tc is probably the least worn of all my automatics because the sudial hands are the hardest to see, not that I use the chrono function on any of my chronos all that much, except for the X-33.

Either practicality i.e. if I'm going to work on my bike I'll certainly wear a beater, or mood, time of year, sheer emotion.

I rotate through them daily (what I have with me and not in the SDB) or as the mood strikes me.

I am a one-watch-guy, so life remains quite simple for me in that regard.

I look to see which one is still ticking so I don't have to set the time.

Pretty random really - I usually wear one for a few weeks and then change to one of the others. I only have a couple of modern, quick-set date watches, and a couple of vintage ones, so the latter are usually taken out when their 'last-stopped-at' date comes around, or close to it.

I typically go on a 1 week cycle. On Sunday night I choose a watch and wind/set it and then wear it for a week.
I recently changed jobs and I am doing much more work around tools and machinery. I bought a fantastic Luminox that I wear daily now with no fear of dings or scratches. This is a step above the typical fear of minor dings, I mean I sometimes have my arm inside a machine up to my shoulder banging around trying to fix something. I only get to wear the nice pieces at night or weekends now.

I've found that 3 watches does it for me. No more, no less. They all get worn and I still have a nice variety to choose from.

No formula as I simply wear whatever I feel like wearing. I try to give all wrist time over the course of a year.

± A week per watch, but sometimes the DJ's are skipped for a Sub or Explorer.

Depends on mood and activity but sometimes on what looks better with what I'm wearing on any particular day.

Pretty easy for me since I only have two. My EXP II is my daily wearer and my TT DJ is for dress-up.

I have come to have the same problem-liking all your watches and with you could wear them all at once. What I do is this. I have 3 watches that I like to wear and I wear each one for a week. I rotate them every monday and kepp the rest locked up in my safe and not look at them. By the time sunday comes around, I miss wearing my other watches and look forward to wearing the next one. This is a good way in my opinion to always look forward to wearing the next watch and you will never get bored of them. You will notice how great they look as you will see them once every 3 weeks or so. But the trick is not to look at them until it is time for the next one.

I just wear whatever catches my fancy that morning. I am torn some mornings, I have to admit, but I look forward to going to the safe each morning and getting to pick one out. On the weekends I on ocassion change to a second watch if we're going out to dinner/bar.
