Sandwich dial

Exactly what is a sandwich dial? Sorry, I'm a newbie lurking in the Panerai forum here.

luminous material is put on a bottom disk. the dial, with numbers/markers already cut into it, is pressed on top of that disk.

When I was just starting out with Panerais, I bought a 000 (sausage dial). And I had buyers remorse that I didn't buy a sandwich dial - since that seemed to be such a cool thing with Panerais. Fast forward a couple of years, and I must say I generally prefer the sausage dials - and I have two others which are sandwich dials! And I think the sausage dials have an even brighter lume too. Either way you can't go wrong...

Sausage dials really stand out. I think they look great with the large case. Sandwich dials are much more subtle. I can't say I have a favorite. I love the sausage on my 000 and the sandwich on my 233!

To me sausage is better on 44mm Luminors and sammy's are better on Rads!

210 in this pic has been replaced!

Panerai's are just sSo confusing, Sandwich, pig, sausage, hundreds of models. Rolex is much easier, knowing the code names and reference numbers.

Agree it is a task to get to know the array of variations, but I really do enjoy the idea that most times I encounter a fellow PAM wearer, they are likely to have another variation on their wrist. ;)
