312 vs 111
I currently have a PAM 111 and am considering swapping for a PAM 312. Like the sleek look of the 312, the contrast bezel and the markings on the crown. also would not mind a three day wind cycle. the sandwich dial is also attractive - love it on my 111. also want a PAM with a date. perhaps i pulled the trigger too fast on the 111 -- i don't want to make the same mistake.
THOUGHTS? i know there are a lot of you with much more experience and wisdom. thanks in advance... RAF |

Ooooo, that's a toughie. The 111 is such a classic Pam, but so is the 312. One is historic and the other contemporary, hand wound, auto, luminor case, 1950s case. Make sure you try on the 312 because it's a heavier watch and wears larger than a reg 44
Because of the extra thickness due to the auto movement. If you were deciding which to buy I would say go with the 312 , it's a lot of watch, but since you already have the 111 I would say keep it, it's such an awesome watch!

Its nice to have a date on a daily wearer, but on me the 111 fits better. Every time I try on the 312 I fell like its top heavy & flopping around.

I've owned the 312 and like the watch a lot. Beware that the case will be much fatter and it will feel much heavier than your 111. My recommendation is to spend the extra cash for a dot dial 233 to get the perfect modern Panerai (8 day manual wind, date, sandwich dial, slim profile, stealthy GMT complication).

I prefer the 111 over the 312. Unless a Bronzo or a 507 falls into my lap at MSRP the only Panerai I really want is the 390.

111 wears better on the wrist I think.
I also heard that its mvmt is being phased out and the 510 with 8-days inhouse mvmt is going to replace it, so in no time it's going to be a collectible? Not sure if the rest can comment on this. |

Maybe a 233? Like quite a few, the 312 is too tall for me.

Keep the 111. The 312 was too thick and top heavy for me despite being a stunning looking watch. I'd either get a 233 or wait for a 510.

Between those two, 111 for sure. Mike is right, the 312 is too thick.

Agree with most of the guys here. Like the 312 a lot. Love the 111. Nothing to improve on there.
However, if you can find the way to pull a 233, then that is what I would definitely do. ![]() ![]() |

I agree with Mike (just not with his love of super-hairy avatars ;)
Actually since the 233 is in a higher budget-bracket, I'd go 510; that does mean a six-mth wait... So by then you'll have saved enough for a 233 :D
