Very Unhappy
I looked at my 16013 this evening and I notice a big chip on the top edge of the crystal. I am very unhappy about this because now I am going to have to send it out for service

I'm sorry to hear about this.
I'd pull the stem and stop the movement, just in case.

I know how you feel. That happened to my Sub 1680 5 days after returning from service. And I sent it back. I was without a real watch for almost 6 months....

My AD's watchmaker will replace a crystal for a tad more than $200 and that's for the anti-reflective piece.
You might consider that option.

Commisserations, it is a pain to have to be without your watch while it is serviced. My nearest RSC is over 1000miles away and short of flying there to deliver and collect my watch I have to trust it to the postal system.
Any idea how the chip happened?

Could you give me that info please? .. You can send it as a private message if you don't want to post it here .. I called my friend Vicki because she sells Rolex at a AD in NC .. She is going to find out if they have to send it to RSC or if they can do the replacement there at the store .. Perhaps your AD can help if my friend can't .. I hate to send it to RSC because it will be gone for such a long time.

No, I have no idea how it happened .. I don't remember banging it into anything .. It would have had to hit pretty hard to take a chunk out of the acrylic crystal .. It really bugs me

Not sure why you have to send it to RSC for a crystal replacement. Any authorized Rolex dealer with a watchmaker in house can put in a new crystal in less than 3 minutes. A few more minutes for pressure testing and it's done.
