New Daytona Owner-First Post

Ladies and Gentleman,

First of all, let me tell you what a nice Forum you all have here. Secondly, let me tell you how pleased I am to be the new owner of a TT Z Series Daytona. I have been wanting to add an upgrade to my watch collection for awhile, so I went to buy a Breitiling Navitimer and left the store with a Daytona. Kind of a funny thing these Rolexes do to you...if you are on this board, you know what I mean.

Despite living in Upstate NY, I was visiting Family in Short Hills, NJ and ended up in a Bernie Robbins Jewelery Store. I was treated incredibly well there, they made the purchase both easy and enjoyable and now I've got one fine timepiece on my watch.

In any event, I was hoping for a little help. What is the best set up for my watch in terms of activating the second hand, conventional seconds indicator and the chrono Minute & Hour totalizer. Do I want these items deactivated to preserve the movement? And if so, how do I go about that.

I much appreciate your help.

The TT Daytona is an excellent choice. I used to have a WF 116523 and it was a stunning watch.

No need to de-activate the chrono counters, just leave them in the reset position with the screw threads in.

Concur with the above.

Now running them all the time won't add to the wear an tear as much as some chrono features to some watches. That said, it reduces your power reserve and doesn't make much sense to run it all the time anyway. Personally, I'd leave it centered and stopped and run it when grilling, cooking or something now and then as suggested above.

Very nice addition.
As most of my watches have a large second hand I always run my Daytona chrono when I wear it and with the pushers unscrewed. This lets me use the stopwatch function without unscewing the locks. If I ever need to suddenly dive into very very deep water I would stop to screw the pushers in first. Some will say that running the chrono will give less power reserve but if you are wearing the watch this is of no consideration at all. As far as wear and tear goes (and with normal servicing) the chrono will run for as long as you will.
