Going to Germany to buy a Sub, needs help??
I will be going to Germany by Frankfurt this summer and would love to get a new Sub. SS or TT with date. Any suggestion where to buy and is it cheaper to get it there than in the US. Thanks

Welcome to the forum !
Maybe do some homework . . . . Rolex is not cheaper in EU . . . The only thing you can try is to buy it tax free . . . But anyway . . . good luck . . . . HAGOne |

Not Germany, I know but you can pick a BNIB SS Sub from an AD here in the UK for £4,200 (Roughly $6,300US). That's assuming a 10% discount and then getting the tax back.
Don't know how that compares to what you could get one for (even from a trusted chappie) in the US? |

For example, a nice submariner date, used but in excellent condition can be bought here for around $4,000 to $4500. At an Authorized Dealer(AD), maybe $6000.00. good luck! |

You will need to get a discount as well as VAT back at the airport to make it worth your while. The exchange rate isn't very good right now, so you have that against you too. I also recommend buying from a trusted seller.

I would buy it in North America. You have a much better chance of getting a good deal here.

Buy in your home country. Silly to do it anywhere else. VAT and customs alone...

I bought my SD in Munich from Wempe - excellent service and yes, you will save $$$ with tax refund at the airport. I declared at US airport, but customs waived my through :)

Thanks for all the suggestions. In Chicago, The best deal that I can get from an AD for a Brand New Sub 116610LN is 7700 + tax. Anywhere I can buy the same watch for less than 7000 tax free is a deal to me.
