Rolex's natural molting phase

I got my TT GMTII on 12/23/06. A few days ago I noticed my wrist felt sticky when I took off my watch. I thought it was just sweat.

I looked closer and the hologram was sliding off sideways! The edge of the plastic was hard and clear in color, and gewy.

I reached in and lifted the hologram. It came out like a loose tooth. Seeing as goo was everywhere I used a soft toothbrush and some toothpaste and cleaned the watch back up.

So now it's a grown up. I debated putting the hologram under the pillow for the Rolex Fairy to find.

The Rolex fairy would have left you a bill for the service.

Does Rolex RSC put a new hologram back on after service? Kind of a silly question but it seems they do everything else when you send in for service.

That would be cool but no. and since holograms have now gone bye bye on the newer z and all m models, maybe they will end up being collector items for those of us that saved them

Now the watch feels like it is supposed to, you should be happy it's gone. My neighbor sent his sub. in for service, (he bought it used and it still had the hologram on the back), when it came back, the RSC had removed the hologram. He didn't care one bit, he was just to lazy to remove it himself he said.

Merry Christmas everyone and happy new year......

I have the one I pealed off the second I got home from my AD, that would be so funny to see what I could get for it. I didn't do a very good job of removing it though, it is a little messy.

There are currently 3 on eBay, aftermarket (fake), 2 days to go, up to about $15 each.

I think removing the hologram is akin to giving a circumcision.

Then again, letting it fall off naturally is not exactly an appealing image either.

I'll be peeling off all the stickers and cling plastic as soon as I get them! Put the sticker on wax paper and in the bottom of the watch box.

Sawing off the crown is more like an amputation

Merry Christmas Robert!
