AD Tomorrow
I'm traveling the 90 minutes to the AD in Bakersfield, CA, today. I'm not committing to buying one tomorrow, but I hope I fall in love with one and my choice is easy. I'm down to a Champaign dial TTDJII, TTDJ and TTSubc blue dial. I own a 16013 which is a small factor. I'm looking at my next Rolex purchase to be about two years from now (yeah, it's a sickness, I'm sure I'll get another). I've got a lot of feedback on the forum and I appreciate it. My intention when I bought the 16013 a year ago was to hold me over until I could get a new TTDJ. Then I started looking at the Sub. I'm basically feeling like its a coin flip at this point but I hope the "one will sing to you" advice holds true. Any last words of advice? And thanks again everyone.

My only advice would be to take your time.
I do believe the right one will sing to you, but remember, you might not hear it at your upcoming AD visit. You may need several rehearsals before the tune is just right. |

Thanks for both those posts. I need to hear the reminder that I don't have to leave with a new Rolex. Visiting then AD two or three times this week is not a bad way to spend the week.

You may get their email address...if you don't see something that you have to get it may be worth sending them a pic of what you want (are dead set on buying from an AD). The DJ line has a ton of combinations from pretty traditional to pretty modern. Do not compromise one bit. Our most local AD has my email. Whenever we go in and look, they stick to the MSRP, and 48 hours later will get an email from them about a small Rolex authorized (doubt there is such a thing) sale on a few of the watches that we looked at.

Part of the fun is the chase. Take your time and get what you want at a price you think is fair.

Take your time and enjoy the process. It looks like you're going about it the right way. And yes, something will "sing" to you, make your heart pump a little bit faster, you'll know it when you see it. Don't rush and keep us all posted.

Yes. I imagine them sticking to their guns in the store is because other people are around and they are trying to squeeze MSRP out of people that are anxious to buy - though they did offer discounts on Panerai in store. FWIW, they have never offered a deal on SS models. Only two tone.
Good luck and let us know how it goes! |

Sounds like you have the right plan. You can look at tons and tons of pics but nothing beats seeing the real thing on your wrist.

Thanks again guys. I need to remember go enjoy the process and have fun. It's a big decision and a lot of money, but in the end it is only a watch. Trying to decide on which $10,000+ watch to buy is a good problem to have, and I guess if handlex right a nice memory to look back on.

And I agree. I eliminated watches through pics and been able to getn a feel for what I like aesthetically, but I need to to see how the finalists look and feel on my wrist.

I'd use the ad for selection, but a trf seller for the purchase.
ESP w resale on two tones. You'd be silly not to do this. |

Definitely agree with that, I was at three different AD's going over pricing and seeing different options. With the amount of money these watches cost, its understandable. Now if you do that at Wendys, then it's a problem.

Look at the silver dial in the DJ. To me, it's the best dial. You can't go wrong with any of the three!
