Tried on RO and ROC
Was able to try on the new Royal Oak and Royal Oak Chronograph this weekend. All I can say is wow! The RO was very impressive. I love the depth of the dial and the way the color changes in different lighting. The size of the watch is perfect and the finish is superb. I really think this is going to be my next watch. I thought the blue faced yachtmaster was next for me but now I’m torn.
The ROC was nice but the dial didn’t seem to have the same texture that was present on the RO. Onto the pics: |

Both are great, but the 15400 has the crystal back. Just in case you like that sort of thing. And that's your ss Daytona? If yes go with the ro.

How do you mean the white dial texture is different? They have the same tapisserie dial that makes it more silvery and dynamic in certain light, the ROC is not a flat white colour.

The chrono movmt not being AP is a killer in my book.
Not a fan of 'out of house' movements. RO! |

JLC make the base caliber which is in no way a regression from an AP inhouse mvmnt as JLC have a longer history of making mvmnts than AP. Plus the fact it has a closed caseback means that it is not a problem for me.

ROC is not a JLC based chrono... it is a F. Piguet based chrono which in itself is no slouch... can be found in VC Overseas Chrono too

Go with the ROC. I am a purist when it comes to the Royal Oak. It has to be a 39mm piece. You should look for a discontinued 15300 and see for yourself.

Look at all that beautiful texture and dimension. It looks like a freakin braid within the tappiserie! I'm sure the tappiserie on the RO and ROC are the same. I bet the RO looks like it has more dimension because the bigger surface area of tappiserie (not broken up by chrono subdials) creates more opportunity to catch lighting angles that show off the pattern's intricacies.
