would you trade brand new PO for SD with some $$$ ?
I have been looking at Sea Dweller(no lug hole) lately... you know what happens next.. fell in love with it... love the classic & iconic black dial..
I currently own one black dial watch, PO 8500 that I bought last month brand new. My trusted seller in TRF said he needs $1350 for me to trade my PO for excellent condition SD(no lug hole) 2004. PO has its own look that I love.. especially with Omega's new and reliable 8500 movement.. But SD needs no explanation.. iconic look and history with proven movement. Am I crazy to trade my brand new PO with $1350 for 2004 SD? or is it well worth doing it? I would appreciate it a lot if you fellow members who own both or have done same track. |

I would not do it. I love my SD but I can appreciate that the PO has it beat on a few fronts. Keep the PO and save up for the SD.

I would not trade a brand new watch for a 9 year old one + cash. I would not trade a PO for a SD in any case.

I owned the PO and POC. I couldn't get over the two colored lume and the H valve is becoming an eye sore for me. Don't get me wrong it is a very well built machine. So I would go for it.

I have owned both. Still own my PO, don't have my SD. I would not trade the 8500 PO for an old watch plus money. The SD was nice but I think the 8500 has it beat on many levels.
Clearly a big NO for me. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 |

If the SD has a recent Rolex full service and warranty and is in very clean unmolested condition and complete with the boxes and papers(given that many people place significant value on them), and you like it better, then I would say it's a reasonable trade at that price. You'll probably still be taking a hit vs had you bought the SD in the first place, but if you expect to enjoy wearing it more than your PO, then it's probably worth it in the long run.
At the other end of the spectrum, if the SD is well used, dinged, over polished etc and needs a service, I'd say its not a very good trade value wise. So my opinion is, it depends. |
