Speedmaster help please (Omega newb)
So I've always been a big fan of the Speedmaster pro, especially the model with the clear caseback. So I was wondering:
1. Is that a particular reference number or are there several model numbers with the clear caseback? For example, I've seen in the "For Sale" section before models labeled 3572.50 and 3573.50 - are there more? Where can I find the differences? 2. Are they all manual wind or do they make an automatic version of this? Manual wind movements look to be absolutely beautiful, but I don't know if I could wind it everyday. I like to just put my watch on and wear it 24/7. Thanks for the info and sorry for the newbie questions! |

They both have the same manual-wind 1863 movement.

Thanks for the info / response!
Unfortunately I just don't know if I could do a manual wind for an everyday watch. |

It is a great watch and looks amazing. I am sure that winding it here or there won't be an issue once you get it.

Btw there is also a co-axial automatic version of the SMP (311.30.44.50.01.002) but it's 44mm vs 42mm. It has a clear caseback and looks pretty much the same. But I vaguely remember someone saying to stay away calibre 3313 which is what's in this reference. FWIW.

Omega newbie as well looking for a Chrono (toss up between Speedy pro and Daytona for now)
1. What are the thoughts on the newer co-axial movement? There's some literature on the net that state that the co-axial movement hasn't been throughly tested yet? 2. What's the best way to get a 3572.50? 3. Between 3572.50 and 3570.50 - the only difference is the sapphire caseback?

Ten years ago I fell in love with Omega Speedmasters and owned several with the Valjoux based movements. I could not understand the fascination (obsession) with the Speedmaster Professional; a non-hacking manual wind watch with a plastic crystal and no date.
I finally broke down and bought a pre-owned 3570.50 from one of the trusted sellers on eBay. After a couple of weeks of wear and research into its rich history, I was hooked. I've owned a couple of dozen since including four at one time. My current collection consists of only two: a vintage 105.012 as worn by Armstrong and other moon walkers and my latest addition, the "First Omega in Space." Now the only Speedmaster for me must have a Lemania movement. All others are "wannabees." A few years back, one of my watch buddies had just taken delivery of a white dialed Daytona when I showed him my white dialed Speedy Pro as well as my black dialed vintage. He was so impressed with the legibility, he immediately replaced his Daytona with two Speedy Pros similar to mine. No other watch has the Speedy Pro's history and mystery. It is a "must have" for any serious watch collection. It has been my dealer's #1 seller for decades and remains the nucleus of his inventory. He usually has 20-30 of various flavors in stock at all time. As for daily winding, it's always a joy to connect with my Speedy Pros and be reminded of how special they are. |

I own both hand wind and auto, to wind it is minor takes 10 - 15 seconds of your day. Like the post Above I like to wind mine in the morning meeting
