First time looking
Most of my time on this board has been spent looking at Rolex and some Omega. Panerai has caught my eye a litte bit, but I've noticed that they are pretty high priced. I watched all of there "how it's made" type videos from their website and was pretty impressed. Not for some questions.. What justifies their high prices? I have an idea, just hoping to hear it from some of you. I feel like their are so many different models, where does one start?

Hi, welcome to this side of the forum. I too came from the Rolex threads.
I started with a base model, the 372, and have had my eye on a few different more complicated models I am saving up for. There is something here for everyone. I would start by popping into a local boutique if you can, and ask to try some on, and have them show you the differences between the base models. I think you will find that not unlike Rolex, the prices of Panerai hold up, and the 2nd hand market for them is very strong. Have fun! You will learn a lot from the very knowledgeable gentleman here that are very generous to share their wealth of knowledge. Cheers! ![]()

Have you tried one on? I had my next Rolex decided on and then I happened to try on a Pam and now my next will be a Pam.

For me it was a hate at first site. Then I started wondering about the different models. Then I bought my first, 351. In house movement, 1950 case, titanium, tobacco dial, gold hands, an absolutely stunning piece. Then I bought a base 112 about six months later. The 112 is quite possibly the most comfortable wearing watch I own. I also enjoy the hand wound movement, sandwich dial, display back and the 3 hz frequency. The 112 wears better for me due to the thickness vs the 351. The fun thing about PAMs is the variety. To the lay person they all look the same. Once you start appreciating the differences between the models, you might get infected with them. Good luck!!

Had my next Rolex, scoped out, spied a Panerai, rest is history. Great looking piece.
