Didn't always agree with his reviews, but he seemed like a great guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of film history.

He was a smart man, and a very good writer. I didn't agree with him either on many reviews but I do hope he rests in peace.

I've read many of his reviews.

I had no idea of his health issues until hearing of his passing this morning. I didn't realise he hadn't been able to speak for the last few years following complications from his thyroid surgery.

RIP.

Very sad news. I read his reviews as often as I could. His "great movies" list was especially interesting, as was his blog. He will be missed.

He was a guy whose reviews I could always trust as good indicators of how I'd find a movie, most often. I was aware of his terrible struggles in recent years, and his wonderful partnership with his wife, Chaz. Very sad.

Always great. Read an article today on his scathing reviews. Absolutely hilarious.
