Problem with 40th Anniv Jumbo
Spotted a high number of spots on the dial which I believed is due to the poor coating process. i.e. the underlying brass is slowly showing on an otherwise blue dial.
Those with the new jumbo might wanna take a closer look at yours and see if the blue coating is evenly applied. Kinda disappointed given i have bought the watch for less than 2 months Off to the service centre it will go today Hope it does not come back with dings and scratches....

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Patrick. Hopefully AP will make it right, and do so quickly. Keep us posted!

That's disappointing. My 5202 jumbo from 1972 has the slightest hint of the brass plate under the coating and it looks amazing as it gives a shimmer to the dial. Don't know if this has developed over time or if original. Spotting wouldn't be good though so hope you get it changed out quickly.

A crappy photo of the problem using my mobile phone. Circled part of the problem too.
And yes, the sticker will finally be off after the servicing...

wow... totally unacceptable for such an expensive high-end watch. Hope this gets resolved soon. Seems like the ultra-thin design might be testing the limits of AP's manufacturing tolerance.

The ultra thin design of jumbo is proven since 1972. I believe this case is more of a production flaw than a design issue. For a watch at this price point, such incident is very disappointing, even if it is an isolated case. But I'm sure APSC would do their best to handle it delicately. Please keep us updated, if you may, about the outcome and your experience with the service centre. All the best!

Sorry to say, but I have heard of at least one other instance of this.
On a positive note, I'm sure APSC will make it right. Hopefully a quick turn around. Beautiful choice on the Jumbo! |

I know a guy who had the exact same problem with the exact same watch. His looked even worse!! Really unbelievable that APs go out like this. They need some SERIOUS quality-control revamping.

After paying all that u should expect A++ quality . Flaws like this are unacceptable. Take it back to the store . They'll do something about it for sure.

scary, but, it will be fixed and perfect. i wonder how many white dial 15300/15400s are out there with the same problem, but people can't see it?

My hunch is that this is a concern for Jumbos in particular. Under a loop, my Jumbo's dial looks more inconsistent in coloring than does a blue 15300. I'm sure my Jumbo dial is normal, as none of the inconsistency is near the magnitude of the pics above.
Maybe they still use more "old school" techniques / machinery for the Jumbo dial as part of the Jumbo traditionalism? |

On a positive note, I spent my first day not wearing the jumbo, and thought I'd take the opportunity to see how the power reserve fares. 44.5 hours and still going! let's see if it gets near 3120 territory.

Damn, now I am going to have to check my dial out!!!
Also check your Bracelet as well, mine was not perfect and AP just replaced the bracelet for me after 8 months of waiting for one. |

this is getting bad... The buckle on my jumbo does not close neatly too. The flaws with the dial though is shocking to say the least. Service centre will get back to me next week. All fingers crossed...

Good luck Patrick!!! I had no problems with my clasp but the Bracelet "plots" were not even on the 3rd row of links and they had to replace the entire bracelet. I only noticed it after staring at it for hours the first day I got it. Only us watch nuts would notice these small things, the small things that AP seems to do so well!!!

please post a pic of your buckle. that's one thing that mine isn't so great on either. the AP square doesnt sit flush at all. pointed it out to the boutique when they took a link out and they said it was within spec. I certainly could have pushed back but they already replaced a bracelet for my ROC last year for the same problem Brian had. thought I'd see if it kept bothering me.

Going to send this to the new CEO.. I met him personally, a great guy. Had an issue with my forged carbon GP, he quickly took care of it for me!
Going to express the gripes within the forums and QC issues, just for the better of the brand. This sucks to hear :( |
