Changing Diver Strap

Is it easy to change the strap of the AP Diver? Can I do it myself and what tools I will need?

You will need just a small screwdriver and some small pliers to get the bar out of the rubber. Just tape all the metal areas just incase you slip. The bar will have two ends on it, one end will unscrew and the other will not move. Just go for it and don't worry too much mate !!!

I need a smaller strap for a better fit. And also thinking of buying a red F1 strap, if I can find it.

I've contacted APSC. They do sell the XS strap and F1 strap that I am asking for. But it appears they discourage users from changing the strap themselves. Recommend to have their own SC personnel to do the strap change, in which case of course becomes very inconvenient.

I've changed back and forth from the rubber strap to the survivor strap many times on my diver. Purchased two small screwdrivers (dont remember the size off the top of my head) and with a steady hand it only takes a couple minutes to change the strap/buckle. Just went back to my rubber strap because I figured I would be doing a lot of walking on my trip to AP and Baselworld.

It is easy to do it yourself.

I changed straps on my 15300 twice a week. Just be careful not to slip and scratch the watch.

Can I trouble you to post a picture of the screw driver? The APSC person I spoke to make it sound like a very complicated process to change the strap. Maybe they just want to collect the service charge..

Also, how to I take out the buckle? I don't see any screws there and the straps doesn't come with buckle.

Here you go! It's a 1.60 screwdriver. The buckle has a spring bar that needs to be removed very carefully from the side between the rubber and the clasp. Be very careful.

I'll try and snap a couple pics when I get home tonight. Use one to hold the screw in place on one side and the other to unscrew the strap.

The buckle is just a typical spring bar. I slide the strap over a little and use one of the screwdrivers or spring bar tool to depress the spring. Pops off in 2 seconds. Be careful so you dont scratch the buckle.

Use two 1.60 screwdrivers and put masking tape around the case in case the screwdriver on the other end slides out. Ask a second person for help as it will be easier that way.

Best way is to purchase a screwdriver on a base and a set of high-quality screwdrivers.
Also use some of the lighter version of Loctite on the threads.

Get some extra screws. You'll need to replace them occasionally if you swap straps a lot. Nothing worse than stripping a screw and having it stuck IN the case.

Get a thin had piece of plastic and slide it between the rubber strap and the buckle on one side.

The buckle is on a springbar, A case knife would do the trick.
